Hello there.
If I'm not mistaken, MixMeister BPM Analyzer only calculates average BPM, thus rendering it useless for many songs. How do you stepfile writers accurately step your songs with variable BPMs? I'm currently working on SGX's "Kick your A," and from my own tweaking it changes BPMS very often and usually only a couple (e.g. 186 vs 188). Any suggestions as to getting accurate stepping? I thought of a solution that should have worked but didn't: taking the songs apart into smaller files and analyzing those (because I can figure out BPM changes with my ear). However, with my editing program (Screenblast SoundForge) the mp3s change speed (goddamnit!) when you edit them and cut them into pieces. For example, the BPMs went from 93 to 93.26, which is too off to help. Please tell me how you get your stepfiles so on the beat

Kick Your A doesn't change bpm slightly...
It does start off slow in the beginning, but it's exactly half the bpm, so it won't average it with MixMeister. If the bpm changes by only a couple, it's because the song doesn't have a constant bpm, so there's no way to find the exact spot it changes. You're just gonna have to slow the song down and tweak it until it's onbeat. |

you could always split the file where you think it changes BPM and then figure them out... I used to use WinBPM until we upgraded to XP and the program was obsolete because it wasn't compatable with XP. But you could just split the file... or mess around in a Stepmania editor with Assist Tick on until you get it right.

WinBPM works fine with XP. I even use it on occasion.

not true plasmix... mine worked for a while and then ceased to work. I use mixmeister, and it is for the most part pretty good, although it likes to pick 2/3s of the bpm or 1/2 the bpm from time to time. If I could still use winbpm I would.
oh and dl archowl's KYA to get the bpm changes if you need them for that song. I think that one is pretty on sync. |
