I switched to event mode and it no longer shows me if i made a machine record.. Is this just my stepmania or is it supposed to be like that?

Uhh, all you have to do to check if it's a record is remember the score you got when you go back to the song select screen. If the score next to the song matches the one you got, it's a record. There's no need for the machine record, especially if you have a personal account set up for yourself.
