whoever told you toothpaste and brasso ... lol.... um they are both abrasive. Brasso is for METAL.... toothpaste has sugar and silica... you'll scratch your CD more....

What has worked for me is a can of PLEDGE. Cake that on there nice and thick, let it sit for 5-10 min till its kind of tacky and wax it. CDs are plastic and the scratched just redirect teh laser to the wrong spot on the aluminum filiment between the two plastic layers. wax is a quick fix, but you'll have to do it about once a week or so. NEVER - NEVER use that disk doctor crap - its amazing how many poele think its a good thing and those CD skins that they sell only work if you put it over an already NON scratched CD.

The best solution - take care of your shit.

but... use furniture wax, make sure you buff that shit good too. Use like an old soft tshirt , something non scratchy, they key is to not scratch it more.

LOL brasso.... idiots

brasso never worked...all it did was scratch it. But the boiling hot water does work so I'll try that when ever I find a scratched CD.

This is a common trick that will soften up the scratches so that the surface becomes smooth. You do this at your own risk and if you keep it in there to long or mess up your CD for any reason, I am not responsible.

You can however hold ToshX responsible and ask him to pay for a new CD even though he has no idea I said this nor does he know of this method.

Life sucks with you have written proof :O

All my disks are just fine with my method.

Synth's idea is something a few Canadians came up with a few years back...

Mine on the other hand is an ancient chinese secret that has been passed on from generation to generation for millions of years... You take toothpaste (regular white kind) and spread it on there, let it sit for a few minutes, then let water run on it until all of it is gone...

I had a CD that was about 10 years old, and scratched up really bad, to the point where it would NEVER work, but I kept it cuz I'm a packrat... Tried that ancient technique... And it works now! Woot!

But glad your CD works now though...
