Also I dig the idea of having our own forum. Especially if we're gonna have members who are newer to production. It would be a great place for us to share our ideas and tutorials without cluttering FFR further. Plus we can share links/uploads to packs and samples and the like. Really useful for us to not clutter FFR with all of that, and instead clutter it with our music.

Ok I now see why it would be a good idea to designate a separate place for this thing.

If it were possible, would you guys prefer to have a new forum category here on FFR or on a separate website?

Personally, I'd rather everything be on here, though that's only so I don't have to remember to check ANOTHER website.

You could always have a subforum similar to the FFR Stepcharting Workshop.
It could go into the Musicians' Jungle Gym.

Of course, if you want your own forum go for that instead. :P

Another side note, I don't know how much you know about forumotion OHD, but you can set up user groups like moderators and the like and create entire defined "user ranks" if you will so that only certain users can see certain parts of the forums. So like if you didn't want your stuff being downloaded by the general public, you could make a user group that required acceptance into it to be able to access the downloads section or something. If you need help with it I'm more than happy to help you out setting that up.

This is the reason that having just a sub forum might not be the best.

It almost sounds like we are trying to create a new community centered around music production.

I get what you're saying, and I would say the general forums would be best off not being restricted. I simply meant for the downloads section, such as the samples you guys created (if you really cared whether anyone on the internet could find and download them rather than your collective group).

If that's not a concern, then no worries. Was just a suggestion

No no, I definitely agree with you. It would be great to be able to designate who sees what for sure, I was saying it wouldn't be possible to do that in a subforum on this site.

The more and more I think about it, the more I like the idea of having a separate forum.

Also, a skype group is almost necessary, we should get that together first and do more brainstorming on there.

Oh, haha, totally misunderstood what you were saying -- OHD, if you want help setting up user groups I already know how as I've set up a forum on there before. Can totally help you with that if you want.

Alright forum is definitely off then, I'll find an alternative way for everyone to be able to post and gather references like packs and plugins, open to any suggestions really. Skype sounds totally awesome and that should totally be set up right away


Edit: milla if someone could manage to convince insert admin here to make a subforum only accessible to certain people (project members) like tgb privacy settings here on FFR alone i'd literally pay hahah
