Our school has this fun thing they implanted called 'morning tutorial' at 7:00. While it only applies to freshmen and people under a 2.0 GPA, this pushes back bus schedules and 0 period classes even EARLIER. So that means, since I have jazz band, I get to go to arrive school at 6:00 am every day. You know how much fun it is waking up at 5am when you just procrastinated homework to 3am the previous night? Not a whole lot. Just about all of my friends have become accustom to sleeping for ~3 hours after or during school.
I'm a firm believer in a 7:30 morning, and 2:00 release. |

In England, the majority of schools start at 9:00 - 9:30. School usualy ends at 4:30 - 5:00. I have experianced English and American education. I find that the English system of waking up later, ends up in people wanting to go home early, and not bothering with extra activities. Whereas the beauty of the American system is that it ends early, so you can do activives after the school session.
When I was an American school system, I actually found myself half asleep in the lessons. I blame myself though for going to bed too late. I think you can counter being tired in lessons by just getting proper sleep. |

The elementry Schools in my area start at 8:30 and get out at 3:30 and then middle and high schools start at 7:30 and get out at 2:35 But inorder to insure all the students get in school in time to get everything done they need to do most buses arive at school about 7:10 at the latest. Becuase the crouded buses and highly populated areas as well as obbessivly long bus routs many students get on the bus between 5:45-6:30 most high school students also need time to get up in the mornings take showers, make food, find what to wear, and any other preperation that takes on average an hour setting students to waking up between 4:30-5:30 in the morning. This is completely uncalled for I think by Setting all school hours back until 9 or even middle and high schools at 8 30 and elementy schools at 9 or 9 30 to avoid bussing conflicts this would make it easier on students to be wake and alert in the mornings. ..yeah thats all i have to say..
SCHOOL SHOULD START LATER >>ROCK AND ROLL

When schools start at an earlier time, you get more breaks, and longer breaks. And the better the breaks, the less stress there is.
That's what I say. |

My school starts at 8:15am. I wake up at 7:05am every morning and leave my house at 7:25am. That puts me in my parking space at 7:28am (I can see my school from where I live...lol). I arrive at school almost an hour before it starts. I hear people complaining all the time about how we should have school later. Gosh, I had to write an essay over this topic. ACT even had me to write an essay on this topic. If you think of it this way, school children won't go to bed at the same time when they know they'll only have to wake at a later time to get ready. I don't know if that made sense. Okay, it's late here...excuse my stupid grammar problems. (LOL)
In summary: we'd go to bed later and we wouldn't be prepared for the working world who does NOT care about what studies say because they are only in it for the money. Thank you. Goodnight. *steps off of soap box*

well, after reading all of this i think that this is one of our "for our own good" ideas. Yeah, some people won't want schools pushed back, but some really need the time. Unless of course they just use it as an excuse to stay up later, then we'd be just hurting ourselves. Hmm..
I say, go for it. |
