I was gonna post something and then I forgot but then I remembered in class.
These packs are really cool and definitely a great idea. I think it would be a good idea if, say a week before releasing the pack, you PM or somehow (attempt to) contact all the stepartists whose files you plan on using letting them know and giving them the option to send you a new version or to opt out. I imagine almost nobody would want to opt out; in fact, most people probably wouldn't respond in any way or might be inactive for a few days, but some people may have made changes to their charts after having given them to other people or posting them in the simfile forum and having received feedback from others. I also think it's just a good idea to let people know you want to use their work in a project beforehand. Personally, after releasing Run Run Run, and having had a few people play it and give positive reviews, I was quite happy. But I was also given some pointers and made improvements and changes in plans to release it more broadly to the public in a pack. Now that this is released, I'll just include the old chart and have the new one as a harder difficulty, so no big deal. But it can be a bit of an annoyance/inconvenience in the following situation: Stepper posts single release, possibly looking for feedback File is played/looked at and generally praised but also given constructive criticism Stepper notes criticism and makes improvements to chart, planning on releasing improved version in pack Thanks for doing these. |
