To me, FFR's appeal is the stats and community. However, as far as actual gameplay goes, there's no comparison. Stepmania has an infinite list of songs with high quality audio, no worries about frame rate, and the options for different themes and backgrounds for songs. Sure, you have to download stuff, but who cares?
