This is another solid week of releases. I found Sleep Tight and Japan Style Breakcore!!! to be especially fun.

anyone else think that the difficulty spike on D1 is a little bit too big?
It goes from 40>49 in one week not only that the note count goes from 702>889 Good luck D1... just... yes

I wish d5 had a spike like that for this round, This is a very anti-omega_grunt666 song.
Too many easy sections for me to screw up on, I usually have trouble focusing on them. Luckily I'm in the middle of a cold so I'm more focused on not coughing up a lung which makes a pretty good distraction from mindblocking. Why couldn't we just recycle Extratone Pirates? lol. This round is pretty awesome on song selection though. |

all of the files this round are awesome except for boot btw. the song really isn't that steppable and feels forced which turns into yet another generic 8th jumpstream file with the occasional jumptrill.
full disclosure: i'm kind of biased against the file since i really don't like the song. Last edited by Fission; 12-6-2013 at 09:23 AM.. |

I quite like it, it's fun to play, the glut trill things just make the song 10x more fun for me

[10/17/2013 7:22:06 PM] hi19hi19: the song is a goldmine [10/17/2013 7:22:10 PM] hi19hi19: it 100% has to be stepped [10/17/2013 7:22:12 PM] hi19hi19: its one of those songs All your base is definitely one of my favorites. The song didn't even feel like 4 minutes. It's just unfortunate D7 is an incinerator, haha. |

also when I once said something about forming D8 and filling it with high FGOs/FSOs (and making it non-elimination as long as more than 16 players aren't in) I was being serious might form a mockup tourney one day just to see how things go inb4dragon'sfury

That is definitely the hardest part IMO. Also the ending, if you try jump trilling.(Like i did at first)
Just doesn't work out, the rolls are a lot fewer than they seem to be.

Should have layered more heavily and not used such friendly patterns in the latter half of the file haha

Holy shit Umbral Ultimatum is fun.
I really like the difficulty curve, no part except the ending is throwaway with regards to the difficulty. Even the slow 8ths in the intro (all the BPM changes are nicely synced, I should add) are pretty troll if you aren't paying attention, and the jack section is well on par with the rest of the file in difficulty even though the NPS and intensity of the song is lower. I like that a lot. The JS patterns are pretty fun, lots of trademark Yoshl 1-handed trills and anchors, but they fit well. Only thing I could complain about is some janky burst patterns, especially in the polyrhythm part, but they aren't too bad. I respect the restraint to not step the fast (32nd?) sweeps in the ending and to make the climax feel climax-y without being too stupid haha. It's just really well done overall. While I feel it's a little overrated in difficulty (this in the same tier as Canary and Pandora, and rated higher than Molto Vivace? idk...) it's definitely one I will be coming back to often. EDIT- oh also the song is pretty dope
