Help me out gaize, I'm kinda in between games atm and I was wondering if there were any fun free to play MMORPGs that I should try. Do not suggest:
Runescape
Maplestory
Sacred Seasons
Realm of the Mad God
Anything from Blizzard

i've been into mmos since like 2001 but i can assure you

at the moment there are NO good free MMOs

you're going to have to stick to stuff like PoE, hearthstone at the moment because free to play MMORPGs from companies like nexon, aeria, gpotato etc are all garbage

Those companies seem to want just money, since their MMOs are shit. It's like pushing out a track and putting it on iTunes for 5 bucks, even if it sucks. Some people would just buy it because.

d3: reaper of souls looks really good, taking the right steps to what d3 should've been

if i were to recommend games atm it would be

1) Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls (out in 2014)
2) Hearthstone (closed beta, but you can get a key easily)
3) Path of Exile (only if you're willing to spend 300+ hours)

blizzard actually has some nice stuff at the moment, way better than free games like dragon's nest, cookie cutter mmorpgs etc

tera is garbage (no endgame)
rift it too unfriendly for new players (small community)

i know what rushy is getting at, but seriously atm there is no "good" mmorpg, you're gonna have to wait until black desert or blade and soul gets localized to NA

i have rubber banded back into the middle of a rare mob pack (and died because of it) so many times that i refuse to play hardcore until it gets fixed

The story while leveling 1-50 in Star Wars The Old Republic is still really good. Imperial Agent/Sith Warrior had downright amazing storylines, but I'd say 6 out of the 8 classes were actually good storywise (Consular was meh, Trooper hella bad). Free to play game but the only things that cost money (doing raids/dungeons, pvp, buying random cosmetic shit) aren't worth doing if you just want the story.
But then it's not very MMO-y so idk, it just plays like Knights of the Old Republic 3 feat. random people occasionally that you can't talk to.
And do not under any circumstances attempt to enjoy the "endgame" or buy anything, you will regret it
