how do you get through songs?

do you have to concentrate on what your doing or does your mind blank out and your fingers just move and you have no idea how you got from point a to point b. or does it just come naturally? personally i'm the 2nd one. just wondering.

I sometimes do the 1st one, sometimes the second. Usually I do the 1st one on slow songs because I want any exitement I can get out of playing them. On intermediate songs I do the second, and on uber-hard songs like revo, fotbb and waltz I do the 1st because I'm panicking to keep up.

It seems like sometimes my mind just blanks out on the uber hard songs and I do good all of a sudden. I managed to get a 170 combo on revolutionary by not paying attention to my keystrokes and just blanking out when I usually can't get above 50.

pfft the highest thing i can even finish is contradiction or whatever its called(Dance3 #1) and megaman
i can get most of virus but just one part screws me up

You can't do contradiction eh? Try playing Stepmania and do HARD songs like Madblast, or Afronova, or Traces. Or you can try doing normal songs in Heavy mode. I did the latter, and I improved lots. I logged onto FFR after a while, and I could do contradiction, but I usually tend to slip my finger so I didn't make the high score. Hope this helps!

I can almost do mega man without looking at the screen at all (To the guitar solo part anyway). But yeah, I just kind of blank out other wise.

ZONING out is going partly into your subsoncious, and losing most of your concious concentration.

actually what you call zoning out is called being in the "flow" i learned that in grade 8 and it was a new book so...

I can't do well on such songs as HellBeat and Flight of the Bumblebee. i can't use four of my fingers at once and get combos properly .. i usually play with two but with songs like them it doesn't help.
How do you co-ordinate properly?

Thats what I always called it, zoneing into the game, a state where you become part of the game and your mind believes there is no world outside of the game. You enter a stigmatic state sort of and you just hit buttons without even thinking, and before you know it you fc'd the song and maybe AA'd it. The hard part about it is getting into the zone and staying with it, any distraction and you'l snap back to reality and probobly fail the song.
