actually, the corresponding color flashing helps as well. You notice it when you're getting a perfect instead of a marvelous on stepmania. I think the flash color should match exactly the judge color specified. Of course, since change is not always welcome, i suggest every single one of these ideas to be added options, those who don't care for them should be able to simply turn them off.

Sorry. I overlooked the highlighting of perfects as well. That is actually beneficial in SM. My apologies for rushing to respond.
