You don't have good enough accuracy. Just keep playing and one day your accuracy will improve enough for you to AAA something.

try paying close attention on beginner and study the arrows, listen to the beat too, experiment with different beats.. try training mode too with the "handclap" that tells you what perfect accuracy is.. eventually you'll increase your accuracy skill... it took me a while till i could get a AAA

sorry no advice will help you. Once you get to the point where you can sdg the majority of songs you may start getting the AAAs otherwise for now just work on overall PA.

This is going to sound really odd, but I recieved this from a guy who AAA'd End Of The Century on Heavy. He said that you have to remember that you can't just hit the arrow and hope you'll get a perfect, and get lucky like that throughout the whole song, that there really are judges in the machine, and will know if you got a perfect or not. Practice the crap outta this game, and try keeping the beat with your foot, even when you're not supposed to step. Also, pressing a little harder on the pad wouldn't hurt. Not to the point of stomping, but with a little more pressure.

Well then if you're on Heavy and managing fairly well to pass everything, you should know how to go with the music obviously.

If you can't AAA on heavy then go back to standard on your second stage(after doing a 9 foot) and try to hit on beat. Do this every time you play at home or the arcade and it should help, plus you will be able to do harder songs for your last stage(at my arcade you only get 3 stages) and you should hit on beat more.
But if you REALLY want to get perfects then you need to play stepmania on justice judge.

wtf is with you and your stepmania on justice judge? :P

I'm pretty good on justice, I can pass things on justice that you can probably on AA (on finger), but I only have a few AAA's on feet... stepmania doesn't help your ddr timing at all... if it did, nima would be the best ddr player in the world, but he isnt =P

If you want to get better at timing on foot, play more on fucking foot, its pretty obvious if you ask me.
I learned how to time better after I played pop4 normal... I tried to keep a constant beat and only get marvs... To be honest, that was my first AAA, Irresistablement on light... I AAA'd sometihng before I got my first heavy AA :P

STEPMANIA JUSTICE JUDGE
STEPMANIA JUSTICE JUDGE
STEPMANIA JUSTICE JU- sorry, it appears we are having some technical difficulties. I temporarily lost my mind.

Play DDR on your PS2 in training mode, and after you beat the song hit "check" I believe it is called, it will show you if you are early or late.

Also, just working on faster songs in general can help. That causes you to react faster, and when you get really used to them, then you'll move 'slower' per se, and be able to read better. That will help you keep the beat better.

Example: I can almost AA Max 300. Minus the two CBs in any category and 10 or 20 greats, and I'll get it. In that case, I have AAA'd lots of other stuff.

Don't think about it as much. If you focus too hard, of course you are going to slip up and mess up. My suggestion: Keep in time of the music. Constantly step on the arrows in quarter or 8th beats to keep rythm. Also, the arrows at the top (the step zone???) blinks in time with the song. Listen for the drums or the bass so that you can match up. Then, with practice, you should be able to AAA something. Relax and just keep the rythm and you will get it eventually. Good luck!

step louder to hear the steps sync with music-note- this is difficult to do on off-sync songs such as d2r
dont concentrate on the top of the screen, just sort of daydream into the center of it.
^one method that goes against this^
when you hit an arrow in normal game mode, if you get a perfect, the flash that comes out when you hit the arrow can be white or yellowish. this flash comes where the transparent arrows at the top are.
white=marvelous, so if you are doing some stream you might want to concentrate on this
AAA's wont happen for a while, i have aa'd legend of max and maxx unlimited and AFTER i did that i got my first 2 aaa's.

It depends on the person some people like sketch sdg/blackflag etc. almost every song before getting many AAAs. But some people pick them up fast even when they are bad at harder songs.
