...For now. Or not. Time will tell and it's always amusing to watch other players improve.
Look like finally there's some healthy competition here though, both may reach D7 really fast (o: |

I understand D7 is the highest rated skillcap but like, what actually defines the divisions in terms of skill? Is there some milestone requirement that I can't find?

i already knew that lol, it was just that he wanted to be rivals with me a few months back after he AA'd WLL oni. i can barely get a mid A on it
@staiain: D7 is out of my reach, and will be for a while. i need to improve my accuracy drastically if i want to even get close. |

Speed-wise I'd say Disregard 1.1 or something along that caliber should be D7. The main reason why we don't differentiate players into different divisions is because there's so many skills to test anyway. Also little to no players are all-rounded (The only person that I can think of off the top of my head is Isaac), most players have skills that are far weaker than their best one. Take Gundam-Dude for example, accuracy is top tier (mid D7) but speed isn't really up to par when it comes to his accuracy. Do you put him in mid D7 because of his accuracy or do you put him in some division lower because he has skills that are much weaker? but ya personally we're all DSucks Last edited by EzExZeRo7497; 10-1-2013 at 02:03 AM.. |

I think you should not worry about your division placement so much. It makes the game more fun and you can lean on fixing your weaknesses.

Eh, I don't really care what division I'm in, but I just didn't know how they were defined.
Having long term goals isn't necessarily a bad thing either. |

Divisions are an FFR thing, since when do we separate SM players into tiers?

We should make our own division system. Lets get creative!

There are too many factors in SM that make it difficult to gauge anyone's skill level accurately. FFR has the luxury in which the timing window scale is much more lenient and there aren't anything like holds, xmod gimmicks, mines, rolls, etc. to greatly increase difficulty—it's easier to gauge FFR skill in the sense that people just need the ability to combo really well with accuracy. Also the fact that there are global rankings for every file in-game, where as SM lacks that, making it even more difficult to place and rank scores accordingly.
You'll also get situations in which where one player is so much faster than the other, but has complete trash accuracy in comparison—how do you even slap an arbitrary division number in this case? Unless there are certain benchmarks that are established on specific files or some shit, there's absolutely no way to gauge SM skill level accurately. In a world where SM did have some sort of global ranking system, I could see it working only if rate mods on SM had score multipliers (similar to Doubletime, Hardrock, Hidden, Flashlight, etc. on osu!) working in conjunction to how well you can combo with accuracy. Then maybe you'll have a better way to slap arbitrary division numbers on your foreheads.

I don't think division tiers make sense, even necesarily in the context of FFR.
Still though, skill is pretty relative and the only thing I really was curious about is a general idea of how good a "D7" player is. Shibe tier wow |

there arent really any official divisions for sm but it has long since been common practice to refer to players as being x tiers/divisions of skills above/below relative to other players for a given skillset
