IME you really do need the burritos double wrapped at Chipotle
Any time I've gotten a single-wrap, shit always breaks and falls apart on me no matter how I eat it |

It's 95% true. The quality of food of most restaurant chains just isn't that great. For ten dollars more a plate you can go to a 4 star restaurant and treat yourself rather than cheat yourself. Or make something at home that's way healthier and tastier.

you say the quality isn't that great, but i've only had an issue with the food i order on very rare occasions.
there is two issues with just going to a 4 star restaurant instead of a chain. the first is that where i live, those aren't exactly in large abundance. the second is the price which really adds up when chains have been perfectly satisfactory for me. sure, i could make food myself, but i don't have the inclination to cook it for myself when i have to spend time at the supermarket to shop for ingredients and spend the time actually cooking it when somebody a lot more proficient than myself can just do it for me. tl;dr most of this argument is subjective anyways so it's fruitless for either of us Last edited by Fission; 09-22-2013 at 06:45 PM.. |

Most people honestly can't tell the difference. If I give you, say, 10 burgers or whatever (or better yet, 10 glasses of wine) -- where the "worst" one comes from the local cheap joint around the corner and one comes from a fancy 5-star restaurant -- most people will have a hard time telling them apart, and it has nothing to do with an untrained palate or whatever in many cases.
As the saying goes, do you want your money to go into the food or the tablecloth? Obviously it's not a hard-set one-to-one function, but past a certain point, you're going to start rating things in a way that doesn't necessarily correlate too well to the price. Edit: What I'm saying isn't hypothetical, either -- lots of studies/experiments confirm stuff like this. |

what makes somebody that professionally critiques food's opinion any more objective than mine? just because they know more than me? no matter how knowledgeable somebody is, people are still going to disagree. that's why taste is going to always be subjective.
if you are referring to the nutritional value of food, sure, that can be measured objectively, but i don't see how you could possibly make an objective argument about how something tastes. my point is is that i don't really care about how food is prepared, i just care about how it tastes and if it tastes good i'll eat it. EDIT: i'm probably really unhealthy, but #yoloswag etc. Last edited by Fission; 09-22-2013 at 07:03 PM.. |

I meant that it's hilarious that you're subtly talking down to someone because he enjoys different food

if food is something you enjoy to the point where it's a hobby, i can completely understand wanting to avoid chains. i just don't feel the same way, so i'm inclined to just eat whatever somebody shoves in front of my face no matter how much grease lathers it.

It's also worth noting that restaurants that use the more "upscale" rating systems (e.g. the Michelin system) are judged on more than just food alone. Service is a big one. You not only get top-quality food created from awesome ingredients and prepared with cutting-edge techniques, but everything runs like clockwork, the ambience is awesome, etc.
As the saying goes, though, do you want your money going into the food or the tablecloth? I enjoy going out to an upscale restaurant if I want a nice experience -- but if I want to focus strictly on good food, I don't need to spend all that much money at all. |

I'm not talking down to anyone, but I realize that I shouldn't have even gotten into this discussion. Especially when what seems to be my main opposer says things like this lol.
I'm over it lol |
