Saw on FB that the President of Nintendo from the 1940s to 2002, Yamauchi-san, has passed this morning. He was responsible for changing the company's direction from card games to ultimately electronics (And apparently Love Hotels?...Oh damn, Nintendo...)
Surprised no one posted this earlier. Thoughts? |

I did not know that but it seemed that from this snippet that I found that he did die today (or would it be yesterday Japan's time since our time today would be the 20th in Japan?)

This guy was a legend. The first project I ever did in grade school was on Nintendo and well over half of the presentation was about Yamauchi's story.

Really sad to hear it, especially when he had done a breakthrough for one of the world's most known VG companies today. |

He died of shame of what the Wii U is and of what Nintendo is overall now. I'd probably die too if I saw my legacy set on fire like that.
j/k rip legend

rest in peace, the true force behind nintendo's success. he was an incredible visionary and made decisions that some may have opposed, but in the end turned a card making company into a gaming giant.

AND Gave him full control of creating games back when he wasn't experienced at all and that would have been a crazy idea business wise.
Also, he owned the Mariners? Wut? |

he had never been to a mariners game...........rip
he apparently led nintendo with an imperialist style and because of his incredible vision was able to make it work. many businesses who work that way fail.
