Anybody else just know deep down whenever you're going to have a bad day or a good day on ffr? It's really weird. My skill at this game is so ridiculously dynamic. Some days I can nearly SDG FGO's, while other times I can hardly keep it under 100 goods. Furthermore, I can legitimately feel whether or not I'm rhythmically inclined at a particular time. It's a really odd feeling.

bu-bu-but I can't improve my stats on FFR by playing SM D: seriously, i'm an extremely meticulous stat whore. every time i've ever tried playing like KBO or 3rd style I always drift back here after like 10 minutes. it's not really healthy..

Not at that moment no. But practicing on there will help over all.

SM especially helps me in simple speed and stamina, because the length of most songs I have being quite long, and aren't very forgiving with a lot of pauses. I would think it also helps me a bit with MA, considering I hate having the Amazing! judge being visible in FFR, but have no problems with the Marvellous judging. Lastly, SM helps me getting better at jumpstreams/handstreams, because of the chord cohesion thing.
After some heavy SM sessions, going back to FFR takes a little while to adapt back to it, but then I personally seem to be doing better than I did before practising in SM.

pretty much every top ffr player has put a lot of time into sm for practice because it's so much more effective than ffr for practice, especially because ffr didn't support rates before (with the exception of smartdude and maybe a few others)

generally good days for me are noted if I don't feel tired/sleepy. (maybe if I sleep more I will get good days all the time? hm.)
I don't swing in skill as much as you do, but I wish I did... teens on Rave7 :O I play Stepmania because a lot of the files are brutal/ridiculous FFR difficulty :P playing Pandora or Canary gets old after a while |

i've never played sm/ffr for longer than like a month or two at a time, never more than 2 hours
i think u just need to take a break which is how a lot of people get skillboosts by taking breaks heh

to expand on that, you can and will get rid of your "statwhore" mindset if you give it a try
but even if you somehow couldn't, you will probably improve at a faster rate on sm because of more challenging files & dumps to practice on, plus not so much of the FFR AAA mentality: people here are so focused on AAAing a file which is usually just an improvement of 1 or 2 goods that they aren't challenging themselves at all and not physically pushing themselves to get better. mentality on sm is much more about getting good passes or trying to A / AA / FC(which is harder) a file... nobody really cares about aaas. and you also get to improve your MA which is a fun experience. then take all that improvement and play ffr again for your precious stats ![]() and i don't mean to denounce FFR or say that SM >>>>> FFR and FFR is dum its quite fun and there are a lot of cool files and its fun to try to get high ranks, good scores and such. i played ffr a ton for a while but could never get an fgo aaa, then i took a break and took on sm for a while, came back less than a year later and i can sightread fgos |

playing stepmania over the past week or two has made me worse at FFR because i'm getting used to the way SM looks so just be cautious of that

it can take a few days to readjust, but if you keep playing both often you'll get the hang of it and will be able to switch back and forth

I always remember playing stepmania exclusively for a few days then coming back to FFR and getting readjusted to it in a couple of hours and being better than I had ever been before
More so than if I had spent those few days just playing FFR Not sure why haha

just for the record, I do play SM occasionally, but not a whole lot. For me my time is spent about 70/30 between FFR and DDR respectively. Strangely I actually feel that playing DDR helps me slightly in PA, simply because it's the only rhythm game I play with more than 3 accuracy ratings.

When I played FFR ages ago, I would have bad and good days/periods, and I could tell a bad vs good day a moment or so into a song. Not anything as acute as what it seems you feel though.
