I go out of my way to preserve the life of little creatures say for flies and Mosquitos. If I see someone is about to resort to killing a spider I take it upon myself to scoop it up and take it outside.

Now that I think about it, I would probably use my BB Gun and shoot it down. While it is struggling/dying/perhaps dead, I will pick it up with something and throw it outside.
