Default Re: Stepping Stones of Stepmania (Submissions Open!)

yiss i guess i'll make a comprehensive review of guren no yumiya tonight or something

this is a virus (mollo) - accept w/ minor fix
(light)
- layer the jumps from 43s ~ 54s too mang
- little iffy on the 16th trill @ 62s, maybe you could step the vocal sample instead? idk man (you also didnt step 'the bomb' @ 63s, it sounds fun to hit)
- you also didnt step the vocals at the end but since you did it in heavy i guess its fine
(heavy)
- lmfao this is hard, put this as edit or oni
- 54s ~ 59s: the patterns are too left hand biased, maybe use up/down arrows as anchors instead of left arrow?
- 59s ~ 63.6s: omg the patterns.. use something like [34]1[34]1 instead of [34]1[24]1 for the first part and use [24]3[24]1 instead of [14]3[14]2 for the second part or something
- 97s ~ 105s: hands & quads are too much mang, tone this down a lot more

symbolic (kraezymann) - accept w/ minor fixes
- really nice job on the file
- only problem i have is pattern choice for some parts.. specifically parts that go like [12]2[12] and [34]3[34] (ex. 4.25 seconds in, 35.25s, 56.9s..)
- 60.8s ~ 61.77s: the part that has 6 down notes is really unfriendly, considering changing over some notes so that instead of hitting 6 down notes the player can instead hit 3 down notes and 3 up notes or something instead
asides from that sort of pattern issue, really slick file, captures the ddr feel really nicely

guren no yumiya (thesilentlord) - more charts needed
the problem with songs like this is that when you weave both vocal + background instruments into steps, it gets really messy and hard to tell what's going on
here's what i think..
keep the current chart and copy/move it to light, and make the mentioned changes into heavy

- beginning ~ 15s: this is fine as is
- 15s ~ 25.37s: the vocals are quieter than the latter parts, and the background instruments arent that loud either, i recommend just stepping vocals with single notes and holds here (you can keep the jumps that you've already put though)
- 25.37s ~ 36s: step the vocals still, but be bold with the layering and also include the occasional snare/drum sounds
- 36s and on: the file gets progressively louder so take that into consideration...
- 36s ~ 47s: step most of the sounds you hear, vocals AND instruments, don't leave sounds out (ex. 46s ~ 47s you leave out cool drumsounds)
- 47.14s ~ 57s: after the exciting section you can give the player a break, step the cool instrumental (violin?) sounds in the background with lax holds and the orchestral vocals (not the main singer)
- 57s ~ end: you miss sounds like the roll @ 76.209s and cool drumsounds like the ones @ 76.5s , take your time and step those things as well
- 77s ~ end: step up your layering here, add more jumps and make the file get harder by this point since we're nearing the end
- 82s ~ 85.6s: step all the guitar sounds and add holds for the guitar notes as well
- 87s: missed drumsounds here as well... step these please, 87.67s: also missed a lot of guitar sounds, step these too man! 24ths or something to finish off the song
