If a file is a [++] / [10/10], it has to have something special that actually makes me increase from the base rating. For me, bmah's Gynandromorph file was a fantastic example of this -- it was a very fluent file for a strange song that actually made 100% sense, and it utilized excellent 192nd usage. I was going to give it a 9/10, but the appropriate 192nd note usage made the file that much better for me, so I gave bmah the perfect score. If I can't find any reasons to deduct from a file, but can't find anything discernibly neat/awesome about it, I'm going to give it a 9/10 (see in my notes: Lost, Nanairopanda 32-bit). Off to work for now, be back in five hours (short shift today). |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Batch #1 complete)
I start every file at 5/10. I start by assuming every file is garbage and go from there.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Batch #1 complete)
according to stargroup, 5/10 isn't garbage but just an average file (i somewhat agree with this mentality)

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Batch #1 complete)
A few judges mentioned that my files in this batch had the gap off and I wonder if it may be due to this setting in 3.9
The default is -50 ms I think, but I have it set to 0. Maybe it's just due to different settings that my files appear off sync? |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Batch #1 complete)
That "sound sync" option doesn't appear for my 3.9

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Batch #1 complete)
it's in the .ini for versions that don't have it in the menu. I have to adjust it by like .04 which makes it so I have to adjust between syncing video to audio (for doing BPM changes and using assist tick) and syncing audio to keytaps (for actually playing the game which seems to sync it up with everyone else)

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Batch #1 complete)
That would explain it then, judges that use sm to review files without that setting would likely find my files off because of it. Good to know.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Batch #1 complete)
I just sent an updated version of my 'Smile Song' with the suggestions from the judges implemented within the file. If it's okay, I would like to use that one whenever the hell my song is released. Thanks

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Batch #1 complete)
Check out the first post of this thread. I've updated it with the next batch's count in submissions. Right now, we have 12 out of 120 submissions.
This count includes regular submissions AND resubmissions from a previous batch. It does not include fixes to accepted files. Slight bit of confusion, but just after the previous batch was filled, I noticed Nick Skyline submitted an email with Dysnomia. Is this an updated version? Was the old version judged in the latest batch? Currently counting this as a submission based on this assumption. Also, it looks like 0 sent a singles version (not a solo version) of "Po Pi Po Kouka de Uchi no Miku wa Kyou mo Genki Desu" right after the previous batch was filled as well. edit: CLARIFICATION ON SAP RULES If the maximum amount of files you can submit increased from a batch as a result of obtaining more Simfile Artist Points (SAP), then you can continue to submit files for this period. For example: Assume your cap was 2 files. You submitted two files and got one of them accepted, which resulted in your cap being raised to 3 files. During this May-June period, you can submit one more file as a result. You'll have to wait until the July-August period however to submit 3 files once again. Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Batch #1 complete)
There will be an easy batch, but you'll know when that comes when we make an announcement for it. The count in the OP of this thread will never reflect special batches of any sort.
The easy batch will have a set number of submissions allowed for each stepper, separate from the system used for regular batches. More details later. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Batch #1 complete)
just to make sure, we've now entered a new batch period? thus my limit of 2 songs that have been judged is back to 0?

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Batch #1 complete)
No, we're still in the May-June period. And since the batch is always open, files will always be accepted (and will be reviewed every time we receive 120 unique files).
If you submitted your quota of files already, you'll have to wait till the next period, which is July-August. At that point, your quota is reset. For you Popsicle, it looks like you didn't get any files accepted this batch and you've used up your quota of submissions. Come July, you can once again submit two files. |
