I usually do one in Dunellen every year but a big life event is preventing me from holding it myself this year. I don't see any reason why it couldn't still be setup though. Kmay lives right in the area and we've always had a fairly large turnout. If it were early in the summer rather than late July/August I ~might~ be able, but I wouldn't be able to play ITG and stuff :/ Dossar came to the Jersey meet last year, so did awein and alloyus ^_^ Miss you all btw.

Not sure late May would work for us anyway being that we just moved to MD and we're starting work this week and whatnot. Early/Mid June would be more likely and even then we'd have to work out hotel cost, travel cost, etc etc.

If this same Massachusetts group is willing to go to Dunellen then I might hitch a ride with them if it's sometime in June. It would be amazing to go from Anime North right to another meet-up.
It's not too expensive for me to fly to MA at all, and next time I go it will be for an interview and other stuff that I have to do for a college in hopes of being accepted. However, I can have a day or maybe even a few days to spend time at Dunellen IF I have a place to stay. I can time things right and whenever there's a set date for it, then I can make arrangements.

Interesting.
I have yet to meet a person who has ever played Air Hockey by those rules, especially at arcades where it's intended especially for children. Fun depends on the person so not everyone will agree with the same point. Not everyone plays sports by the exact rules given that are intended for the NBA, NFL, etc. That's why there's "street basketball" and "two-hand-touch football". This air hockey table was specifically made for people of all ages to play "for fun" at an arcade. WAIT A MINUTE. THE RULES ACCORDING TO THIS SITE STATES: Quote:

We were just having "fun".... at a place called "FUN WORLD"....and here's another "fun" fact! According to the Online Etymology Dictionary, The word "fun" was first known for its use in the 1700s which meant "a cheat, to cheat, hoax". THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE'RE DOING! FUCK THE RULES, WE'RE HAVING *FUN*! ![]() Awesome! This got me warmed up for my next essay assignment Now then... I wish I had taken more pictures and videos but as I said in an earlier post I was planning on posting the full story of the whole day, and deliver the story to you all I shall! I will try to abbreviate as much as possible.11am - Met Sam in front of his college with my parents. The weather was around 30-40 degrees Fahrenheit (between 2-5 Celsius). 12pm - Finished college tour. Parents left. We were waiting on Matt to pick us up. Luckily I used my phone to go on FFR and I noticed that Matt left a comment on my profile saying that he would pick us up at around 12:30. Or rather he said something along the lines of "we were going to pick you up. I thought "WE?" because I had no idea Matt was also going to pick up Mike. We still had time so Sam and I went to go see his dorm and also to go and pick up his phone charger. 12:30pm - No sign of Matt. We talk more and make jokes to kill some time. Roy messages me wondering if I was picked up already and I was starting to get a little concerned and worried. 1pm - Matt arrives......but he did not spot us even after driving past Sam and I twice LOL. Luckily they stopped and they picked us up. 1:30-ish pm - We drive around Roy's school, I sent him a text to let him know that we arrived, and we were on the hunt for him. I thought I saw him, but it turned out to be a random Asian kid hahahaha. Soon after we spotted him with an FFR shirt. From there we drove to Nashua, NH. 2pm - We arrive at Fun World. Roy went straight upstairs to play some ITG while the rest of us bought snacks. 2:30pm - Andrew shows up and he just walks up to our table and stops. The first thing out of his mouth is "Hi, I'm Andrew" (awkward pause) and we just all laugh. No handshake, he just introduces himself to all of us as if we didn't know who he was and just stands there without moving. 3pm - As soon as we're all done eating, we all go upstairs to check out Roy playing ITG. It was no joke when he said we would hear him screaming when playing a song from his pad pack. He was yelling out loud because the song was stamina draining and he was giving his 100% to try at and pass it. During this time was pretty much what's in the 9 minute video. 5/6pm - Sam, Andrew and I decided to go downstairs and rank up some tickets. Andrew I believe won a jackpot from one game. I did too. Sam won two consecutive jackpots in a row on two different games (hax). We all won a total of about 1800 tickets and I decided to buy alien balloons. They don't give them to you already inflated though... so Sam had to inflate them both by mouth. I couldn't do it and I nearly passed out. I'm sure Mike, Matt, and Andrew knew that from the beginning when they were watching me hahaha. 7pm - Asked two random girls if one of them could take a group photo of us. Roy also took some great photos. 8pm - Originally I was planning on going back to the hotel but at the last minute we decided to go to a restaurant called Friendly's. Now....thank goodness my parents had Sam's number. My phone battery ran out at around 3pm and I had no idea that they were calling me. They also messaged Sam but he didn't reply until later. My parents thought I was kidnapped and they were extremely worried rofl. Sam replied and told them my plans and they were finally relaxed and without worry. 8:30pm - We arrive at Friendly's and we get an awesome waiter who joins in on our sarcasm. At the end, the waiter does the usual and tells us about an online survey about the restaurant. He says "I'm sure you guys have access to the internet, right?" Andrew replies "Actually, all of us met on the internet...." We all die laughing. Matt replies "Andrew, you don't just go and tell people that!" I bet people at the restaurant thought we were creepy drunk people who all met by luck. 9:30-10pm - We decided to take on Andrew's suggestion and go bowling. It was spontaneous but I thought "hey, I will just make the best out of this and just go with it". I'm glad I did. Bowling was awesome and hilarious. More Andrew rage. Both Andrew and Sam kept hitting only the corner pins. We also laughed at how sometimes the ball would just bounce around when thrown hard enough and knock down another pin. We played two games and I remember Matt being on fire the second game and wrecked us all. 11pm - We all say thanks for a great time, hugs and handshakes. It was a sad moment. Andrew drove me back to the hotel along with Sam and I almost knocked out in his car. I had been awake for almost 24 hours hahaha. It was a crazy day.

Play it how you want. Sometimes people like to know these kind of things though. But I'm glad you all had fun.
Seriously don't see why all the big deal out of me pointing out a couple rules though. Also you can play a game adhering to the rules within reason given limitations. i.e. you don't need a tournament-appropriate table to play just like you don't need NBA-approved basketball goal or MLB-approved baseball bat yet you can still play within the other rules. Sometimes people like to know the rules of a game if they're unfamiliar with them? I realize it was casual play but still. I guess you don't mind if people run around with the ball instead of dribbling in basketball then? What about if in soccer they just decided to grab the ball and run down the field? I guess it's okay to kick people in the groin in American football if it gets you to the goal faster? |

I agree. I'm just saying that it's a bit silly to talk about rules and such when it's at an arcade where 99.9999999999999% of the people who play air hockey are not even 13 years old and make up their own rules anyway. I'm not being stubborn though. If I were told by someone that I was doing it wrong then I'd listen, learn, and play by the rules (or rather, THEIR rules). If I were playing against a 7 year old who stops the puck at any time and grips the mallet however they want it, then so be it. I personally don't care lol. If this is going to continue, leave it to PMs but I'm done with that.
Yea, next time I'm bringing my phone charger. Because I checked FFR for a while and went on facebook a lot, my battery drained quickly and I couldn't use my phone to contact anyone. As for Matt, I think he did mention to me that he was going to pick up Mike but I didn't know that it was certainly going to happen because I remember him saying that "[he] might show up. I'm not sure" or something like that. Not to mention he didn't have a cell phone but I'm just glad that it did work out ![]()
