I've made exactly one file, which was rejected from Pokemon Pack 3 for having a wrong BPM. RIP Steven/Wallace champ battle. I also tried making a Single Song Pack 1 file, but got bored and then lost everything when my monitor feed said fuck you a year ago.

As for what makes a file fun, I think the big thing is to know how to make files that suit the stepartist's skill level. Much like we all started this game with playing easy songs, a stepartist should begin his career with slow, easy, even barebones files, and for many of the same reasons. Reaching out of your comfort zone to make files that are too complex or simple is a difficult thing for a lot of people to do, and when people do that, mistakes are made on the technical side.

I have 262 files on my site, most of them with one difficulty, but the average song length is somewhere around ~4:30, meaning if I stepped two minute songs like everyone else I would have over 500!

I made around 20 or so non-metal files for pad right at the beginning of my "career", and people will only have those if they got them off bemanistyle.

What makes a simfile good? I think people are still trying to figure that one out, but we can all agree that fun=good is a good baseline.
