Default Sonic Simfile Pack

http://forums.sega.com/showthread.ph...tepMania-Pack)

I propose that someone mightier than I revive this project. Or, if something like this has already been done, could you point me in the right direction?

specifically themed packs are in general extremely difficult to get off the ground because out of the small few who are interested, even fewer people can find the motivation and drive to do more than a couple songs before they either burn out or find the song choice limiting

for example, me and patashu independently tried to do cave story packs. neither of us got very far

so far I don't think there has been a hugely successful themed pack ever released. I could be wrong

so basically, unless you don't care about chart quality it's probably not going to happen

The only pack that I know like this is Super Meat Boy. That's it.... Like star said, these are hard to get going. You'd have a better change stepping all the songs yourself.

There have been two Kirby packs, but that may be because the Kirby series has some of the best music ever. I do think that most songs in the Genesis games are extremely stepable though.

I would step a Sonic file that would be more catered to keyboard playing. I'd also make the pack more open-ended as to what Sonic songs could be stepped (as opposed to Sonic 1-3 in your particular pack). As for that specific pack you linked, I'm not participating if I have to follow wacky rules such as that guy's way of nominating difficulties for songs:

Quote:
For those of you confused as to how I rate the difficulties, I rate them as the following...

1-99 steps = 1
100-149 steps = 2
150-199 steps = 3
200-249 steps = 4
250-299 steps = 5
300-349 steps = 6
350-399 steps = 7
400-449 steps = 8
450-499 steps = 9
500-599 steps = 10
600-699 steps = 11
700-799 steps = 12
800-899 steps = 13
900-999 steps = 14
1000+ steps = 15

eye herds teh sanics and i came

I could give it a shot, but I don't know what'll happen in the next few months.

Also, I know CGM has a few good simfiles; they were recognized as good on r21freak, but still.

I'm 99% sure this pack is aimed to be a pad pack that people just play on the KB, more or less hinted at by the ratings.

Forget about CMG, just start up a Sonic pack yourself. It should be totally possible to get a dozen or two decent files, especially if you can find a few good steppers who are interested in the series. Hell, the VGMP packs already have like nine Sonic charts, and those packs weren't that bad.

Or just call up that Greatest of Stepmania guy. He'll guarantee that we have the best Sonic stepfiles ever by rejecting anything without a high quality AMV attached.

Assuming by "like this" you mean a random Sonic pack of questionable quality, probably intended for pad players, and that almost no one remembers, then boy are you in luck! SS Sonic Style, have at it.
