I don't care about backlighting and I would prefer a tenkeyless keyboard, hence I'm getting a rapid. Also, I would never use macro keys.

I'd be all over CoolerMaster keyboards if they didn't plaster their and logo all over the entire keyboard and make them ugly.
I'd spend the extra money and get something I can actually stand to look at. But that's just me.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't buying a shitty keyboard seeing as everyones going for the other options. Just need to decide what switches now, all I know is I'm not going with red.

Brown or blue Tera. Browns are usually the most common switch that is picked.

I don't like blue because it's hard as hell to jack on them and not the best for streams. But they are great for MAing.

Edit: not sure about the blacks...i know most SM players hate them

Reds are just a lighter version of blacks. Both of them are linear switches which means you won't get any tactile feedback like a click or a bump telling you when the key is registered; it's a smooth travel all the way down. Blacks take a little more pressure to actuate than reds, but reds feel too light to me. I also am buying a mechanical keyboard for gaming and not FFR/SM. FFR/SM would probably best cater to switches with a tactile feedback, aka browns or blues.

It's also a thing to note that everyone's different. One person might say blues are the best, but you might hate them. The best advice I can give you before buying a mechanical keyboard is to find a store that sells keyboards with all the different switches so you can try them out.

its not very common to find a store with mechanical keyboards never mind one with different switches lol.. atleast where i live that is, i was looking for a mech keyboard for a while before i had to buy one at best buy just because thats the only place i could find one..

You should find someone who can buy it for you online if you don't have a visa/master or whatever. Just give the money...I know most stores only care Razer keyboards with red switches. I did happen to find a Cosair Veng but it was red switch as well.

TeRa I'd go for a Coolermaster Quick Fire Rapid if you're on a budget, a QPAD MK-50 would be good too but it's more expensive.

Most players use brown switches and blue switches, if you like clickiness go for blues. If not, go for browns.

EDIT: Of course it's all in a matter of preference, I find blues to be the best switch for me.

I have reds and I do pretty well with them =/

It's just preference, there IS no best switch.

I have like 3 computer shops in a 10 mile radius of me all of which have a keyboard on display with each switch. I guess I just assumed they're common.
