he's a good way to counter the whole "make a million profiles to dislike one file"

you can only rate files if your username is BLUE (forget the amount of points that is in your grand total). this way it gives people a reason to want to play the game more, and it stops people from trolling one simfile.

Why not just make everybody simfile judges instead? Isn't this what they're for?

The blues are some of the hugest trolls on this site. Regardless, this is a bad idea. If this system came to be, everyone should be able to vote, not just an elitist group.

At this point I'm pretty sure you know that there are a number of users who would indeed go to this length. If people already do this for profile votes, then voting for songs is no less applicable.

Just do it like with tournaments, minimum games played requirements: like a thousand or something

I'm for this. Why not? Your file is already in the game, who cares if certain people dislike it.

I'm not sure what this is but it isn't sound logic.

This makes the incredible assumption that bias will be perfectly (or at least close to it) evenly distributed. Such a nearly perfect distribution of bias is incredibly unlikely. You're more likely to draw a number [1, 1000] out of a hat one time only and get exactly 315.

The problem is you are assuming the bias is perfectly random. It is not. For the same reason if you have 10 people - 7 tall guys 1 tall girl 2 short guys, and everyone is biased, you'll end up with the "agreement" that is most favorable to tall people and to males.

Yeah comment walls for level stat pages will be way more useful than just ratings/votes, the only issue will be we need to moderate them (aka needs man power).

Yeah, just reading the thread title, I automatically thought:

inb4 Dossar's files get downvoted 1,811,989 times.

Tho i have nothing against the guy. Seems chill (sun)

If the entire community downvotes dossar's files, perhaps that's because the community doesn't like dossar's files

Only real downside I see is that a few steppers might get discouraged.. But that's gonna happen when people complain in the "Songs of the Week" thread anyway. No one who actually plays this game is going to give two ****s about the rating. At most, it'll prepare you for the AIDS that you're about to experience but no one is going to judge the chart solely on its player rating.

it's pretty well known that people jump on the "hate Dossar" bandwagon even if it involves his simfiles (even when that has absolutely nothing to do with his attitude in the past/present), and some of the people that hate Dossar's file don't even have a place to talk because they aren't proficient at all

just felt like getting that out there

Nifty although it seems ultimately pointless.

What is going to be done if a file is liked/disliked a bunch? My guess is nothing. Definately no one is going to change the file. Sounds like a way for people to give files they like props (which there are already multiple ways of doing this (the forums/the stepartists profile)) or show they dislike them which is possible now.

Sorry I just dont see what would be accomplished from the effort needed to implement this.
