I used to play, but there's one reason why I quit. Nobody here wants to freakin trade! All they do is buy or sell. Just not worth burning mass money on cards everytime something new comes out. Gotta love playing Yu-Gi-Oh. I get just about everything I want without spending a dime, and the game is fun!
I am however familiar with everything for the most part. If I were handed a MTG deck, I could play against anyone. |

Oh, I can play the game and have a basic grasp of how various effects work.
It's the winning part that eludes me. :I |

I played, then quit, then started back up again last year. It's kind of hard to keep up with everything that's going on in Magic and have a good deck as it requires at least decent cards and most people I know have almost entire deck full of rares and mythic rares.

I used to play all the time and had a decent rating for a while. I have been unable to play though thanks to work. I miss going to FNM's. Like I have been to 10 MTG tournaments in the past 2 years. But if things go well, I will be able to to go to FNM's and travel to Grand Prix's again. Which by the way, to players that haven't been to a Grand Prix, just go. They are a blast to go to. I think all Magic players should go to at least one. Make a road trip out of it. You will not regret it.

I played casually with friends and almost did an FNM once or twice. Never really got too into it though but I still have my cards. Nobody around here to play it with unless I find some FNM sometime

I left all my magic cards with my ex years ago, but I play a couple times a year these day with a couple of people. The funnest part of magic IMO is deck building.

Then you should totally come over and build me some decks. Because that's the part I suck most at. =(

Anybody thought about maybe using one of the free online CCG programs that are available to maybe get a little league going? We could totally draft together and stuff! |

Just acquired a playset of Cavern of Souls yesterday, and that's pretty sweet.

Glad to see I am not the only one playing Magic. I mostly play in limited formats, as I don't have the money to buy cards to construct a deck. If I have to play Standard, I'll borrow a deck to a friend or something.

Booster drafts were alright, but my favorite was the giant box of random crap dubbed the 'draft box'.

Well I play standard, inherited a bunch of really good cards/spent a little money to make a deck that's as close to flawless a green/white deck can be lmao.

Getting faster with time

I used to play heavily, until it just turned into a "lets see how quickly i can beat my opponent with this broken $400+ deck that could probably win with just 13 cards" type of thing. I don't know about any of you, but when I'm carefully constructing a deck, I like to see all of the cards in the deck get some kind of use throughout a set of matches. Definitely doesn't appeal to me when the competitiveness ends up being about who has the quicker hand.
