i'm really liking all the Garen buffs

but the nerf to his passive makes me sad

(7 seconds > 10 seconds)

It's not really nerfec. The only way to turn off his passive now is by champs hitting him. So it's better.

Falls off like a boulder over a cliffside. They're trading some of his laning power to make him better overall (if the preview is to be believed, haven't seen the changes yet).

Also, there's currently no reason whatsoever to pick Garen over Darius. The silence is just about the only thing Garen does better.

Garen was one of the least competitive picks ever (like... not at all) due to literally having zero end game.
Like speed said some of that insane early game damage / dominance has been shifted to lend itself into a much more competent mid-late game
while not pushing his early game TOO harshly.
His scaling got a huge buff and he had a bunch of quality-of-life fixes as you can see from the patch. I will def. enjoy this new version of one my first ever played champs. (btw rip early game bush garen... I assume though all sorts of bruiser/Carry Garens popping up soon)
