hrmmmm it seems to me like the BPM of Healing Vision Rmx is a tad bit fast. I assumed the offset was just funky, cause that happens, but I fixed it for the ending and then the beginning was late enough that I was getting all greats. anyone else have a similar experience?

still loving these files. everyone, give yourself a big pat on the back. treat yourself to some ice cream.

Could someone check the sync of this version?

Yeah, it's almost identical but with a couple minor changes and a standard chart, and I understand the bland sentiment, see below

But that's not very important compared to the objections I made on the other files.
Captain Hindsight agrees with you there, I could've done mines some mines or a little bit more with the layering/stepping scheme, but really I wanted a new-look file for it because all the ones I've seen on the song are just... either inaccurate or oriented for pad, and it's a good enough song to warrant a modern flow. Plus, it looks much more appropriate as a quadbait file than anything with semblance of difficulty, I mean, the song's pretty mellow.

And requoting just because yes, moches, that was the point of the minefreezers and I'm glad people caught onto that. Plus, green/white notes from me? So cliche, according to the masses :P

happy

Also. I'm not going to stop restepping completely, but I guess I could tone them down and at least consult with the community and judge which ones would warrant them, call it a win/loss with the two in here.

Adding a few of my own.
-AST: Yeah the UEMP series overall was pretty ignored, but really I liked this file back then and I still do now. Not really much commentary except I'm wondering what goes on in the one-hander's mind as he steps files -clearly- meant for two-handers.
-Avalon: Fun and chill song, seems to pick up at about the right time to avoid boredoms and never feels forced pattern-wise
-Grave Consequences: P.much another typical gunderp file when mixed with Tsukasa, no wonder you have the unspoken monopoly on the artist
-My Unfortunate Erection: Hilarious song, just feels fun to tap to, kinda like how I enjoyed Moves Like Jagger's file from the spring pack, lol detri strikes with more humorfiles
-Sampling Paradise: Awesome as hell, captures the song really well and pretty much reiterates that Kommi is alive and well in the stepman races. Couple of silly mine-laden sections but I kinda see what you did there at least
-Weapon: Not really much commentary here either, I watched your pre-release video and really enjoyed the actual playthroughs. *shrug*

24th century boy - haha a song named 24th century boy with 24ths. file was pretty fun, but (12)(34) is not the only jumptrill pattern you can use. 24th trills were a nice touch imo, kept me on my toes (fingers). 7/10

532nm - file was kinda boring imo, mine usage was ok (except for that huge mine jack in the middle). I was pretty happy when I saw a different jumptrill pattern though. 5/10

acchi de kocchi - I'm a bit torn on this file. some parts fucen owned, some parts were so messy and hard to read. mine usage, excluding the da-da-da quads, sucked. i'd probably play again though. 6/10

activation synthesis theory (heavy) - the layering in this pissed me off like no tomorrow. during some of the solos you didn't layer any percussion, and then some solos you switched between guitar and drums, and then some solos didn't seem to fit what was being played at all. looking at the amount of jumps on the standard chart, I'd probably enjoy that much more. sync was gr8 though, so props. 4/10

advent of purinpu - scylaax made an easy file? what the is going on here. fun little MA file, mine usage, not surprising at this point, was kinda bad. this'll be really fun on rates. 6/10

avalon - not hard enough, sry. 7/10

battlefield (oni) - left handed jacks are gay. niec dodgeball file otherwise. 7/10

battlejam - awkward as shit. 5/10

bent chorals - bored me to tears. I kept expecting the file to get better or to pick up in pace but... it never happened. 2/10

bingo highway (oni) - after the underwhelming use of mines up until this point (besides AST), playing a hard pain that doesn't use mines to inflate the difficulty is awesome. good scoring file, those trills are brutal and some parts are really tricky. 7/10

bonamana - kinda boring until the ending, which is decently fun. would be really fun on rates. it's really cool to see your files getting progressively better, it's even cooler to see that you're not a master of inconsistencies now rofl. 6/10

breaking through the gate - you're not yesssss, sorry. with that said, cool little file. nothing noteworthy to say about it, liked the mines (because there were none). 7/10

buki - congratulations, you get the honor of being the first file I quit out of. you stepped this in such a bad way and the mine usage made literally no sense whatsoever. 1/10

cadaver anatomy - what am I listening to

centipede - if you can dodge a wub you can dodge a ball/10

charging swarm of mice kiters - after playing bent chorals, I went into this expecting something bad but this actually owned. stepping that snare thing (sounds like 48ths??) during the small freeze part would have made this better imo. 8/10

checking you out - anaru/10

chronon - zzzzzz

couple breaking - really boring 3/10

divided by three - I honestly have no idea what it is about your files (maybe you can blame NTM for this), but I don't think I've enjoyed a single prog metal file from you.

don't wake me from the dream 2010 - wwplpmpn had to edit his graphics but you didn't have to edit your chart/10

finishing after dinner

more reviews

reviews part 1

Battlefield - don't think I'm good enough to enjoy this file. felt incredibly abrasive at times, though the flowier parts felt good to hit. mine usage was great all-around, on the positive side.

Bent Chorals - solid file. has the opposite problem of Battlefield in that it's actually too flowy at times and lacks tension, but it's fun to hit and a good warmup file because of the streams.

Bingo Highway - played Heavy. much more fun than I expected; there are some rough patches where either mines or patterns lead to awkward breaks, but the solos actually flow pretty well. chorus is fun to hit if a bit mindless.

Buki - parts of this work really well with your simplistic approach, but other parts seem like you're stretching the material too thin. I'd definitely say that this is an effective file, but it's not so much fun to play.

Chronon - this is HARD. you have tons of awkward stuff in here, but the speed of the song gives the player tons of breathing room. very chilling file, in any case: builds up to a scary climax. granted, a lot of it's just the song, but I think you did a good job bringing it out here.

Come On - this is the best xmod file I've played in quite some time. only flaw is that the mines are TOO close at times and there isn't anything in the song to signify using them as triggers, but they work very well most of the time. kinda a song to memorize, but I'll be playing this again.

Far East Nightbird - the long freeze stuff you use a lot here is a mixed bag. at times, the freezes hamper the nimbleness of the drum parts, but in other parts, they express the synth stuff perfectly, so I'm torn on what to say. I think this file suffers most from a lack of fluidness; it's an okay file but I don't think it's what I was hoping for.

HANZ UP - those long jacks at the beginning are WAY WAY harder than anything else in this file. otherwise, fantastic steps: chunky and fun and full of funk power

Healing Vision RMX - this is going to be a long, long review, so hold your breath...

there have been three versions of this song so far and I don't feel that a single one has succeeded completely. the key to stepping this file is to nail the subtle rising and falling action, having the tension build up before holding back. this does that incredibly well at times (this file has my favorite take on the beginning so far), but falters because of how technically it's stepped. green notes on piano are a bit too overpronounced compared to how back in the mix the piano actually is: a few strategically placed mines would have sufficed. lastly, the mines on the drum break work only if you use them to indicate a buildup: the transfer to actually stepping the drums was too abrupt to have much impact. (a fun trick I like to use is to 1) step everything with mines, 2) replace a few notes with mines, 3) replacing more and more mines as you go along. Never Fade Away from LCP3 has a minor example of this, so check that file out if you want to see what I mean.) a real mixed bag, this file: you have some parts in place, but others just don't convey the song very well. good attempt, but falls a bit short.

House of Pleasure - enjoyed this much more than the other iRanch file. incredibly deft file: reminds me of El Telefone from SMG2, actually.

Hunter's Chance - loved this file. captures the little subtleties of the rhythms/melodies well. a few polyrhythms near the end grate, but lovely little file otherwise.

Interrupt - haunting song, beautiful file. overstepped a bit but really nice

Lake Bestriel - such a weird, simple file, but I like this a lot. jack theory is applied in a lot of great, subtle ways, and the song builds up to its own little climax. reminds me of something Kil might do (blasphemous, I know)

London - easily the best file alex has done so far. texture is amazing throughout (though some freezes could have been trimmed), mine usage is great, and the climax at the end gives me chills. very, very happy right now.

and now I proceed to play stuff from the back half of the pack

Seiken Densetsu - Final Battle - holy **** this is hard. got an A on sightread lol. fun file if kinda sloppy in some parts. made for the scoreboards, really.

The Sampling Paradise - this is the most pure fun I've had playing a file in this pack, to be honest. feels so spontaneous and so bombastic.

Tuff Guy Not Tuff - my brain is just turned off right now, so I'm sorry I can't give you any legit criticism. this is a blast to play though

What You Got - enjoyed everything until the jacks came in and dumped all over everything

Where's Bill - WHERE'S BILL?! brutal, tough, brilliant
