what yall think of thirdstyle?

From the last time I went on Thirdstyle, the biggest change was that it was purple everywhere instead of blue, which is, I'll admit, rather sexy. Other than that, the community is smaller and everybody who's active knows everyone else, which has its fare of advantages and inconveniences. I tried to enter the circle, but realized I didn't really fit in Thirdstyle's circle (even if they are super friendly to newcomers as they say), which is why I never returned on there.

I kinda dislike the song selection screen; why aren't songs categorized by their genre like on here? That's a feature that I feel is lacking. And there should be an option to turn down xmods just like in stepmania, the newer songs tend to abuse them a bit, as well as the holds. xP Our engine on FFR does have its limitations compared to TS, but that's not entirely a bad thing, as it's fun to be able to play around them and see what others can do with them.

Nitpicks, I just prefer FFR, that's why I stay here. I was never good at being in two communities at the same time, so I stick to the one I like the most.

Also could someone please change the difficulty rating system on TS it's stupid to see Jingle Bells Speedcore at 73, Abyssal at 99, and then TRIBAL RIDDEMS at 60 or something similarly stupid. TS needs a better difficulty procedure.

Because the permissions list sucks. Remember when Shiki wasn't telling people about permissions he got in chat? I guess TS could use some "permission polishing"

there are actually a few good permissions that have been posted, but the way that the thread was organized was really bad. I'm in the process of entirely redoing it (only like 20% done because the way I'm doing it takes FOREVER)

Also that part about FFR not adding content is quite possibly the dumbest part of your post. A major difficulty revamping just took place, we have more procedures for determining suspicious scores (oh hey, TS still has all those hijackers on the ranks and has like no way to tell cheaters!), we're improving the permissions list, the engine is getting more cool features added to it (meanwhile on TS you have ONE shitty noteskin that is an eyesore at fullscreen along with no mirror feature), and in general there's more on FFR being changed.

I'm sorry, but the attitude here is probably why change isn't as motivated as it potentially could be here. I'm surprised Jae has the patience to go through this jackassery and propose new ways to improve FFR.

the only reason my post had an agitated tone is because it was laced with ignorance/arrogance. it goes both ways, since obviously I belted out a few impulsive (incorrect) things of my own. at this point, both sites (communities) need to keep things they don't like private unless it actually advocates improvement. it's really aggravating to see people just blasting TS for things that happened in the past.

EDIT: and yes people have been complaining about the algorithm, it needs a huge improvement.

You can click a genre and see all the songs for that particular genre on TS. And I'm totally against having a cmod because that would skew scores when it comes to gimmick files that are meant to be played xmod. Half the fun of TS is being able to have xmod.

Either way I'm a supporter of both sites and I think it's silly that people feel like they have to side on one or the other. The goal of TS isn't to compete with the other sites, hell having the competition is just driving a rift in the rhythm gaming community as a whole really. Everyone has their opinions and that's just fine, but no reason to be rude.

I do have to comment on the judging aspect and the files being poor because of it comment though, more crappy charts got in game when Tass was still there than now. Yea we're more lenient, but that's not out of desperation, it's just a more relaxed atmosphere. And what may be a shitty chart to you, may be really fun to another player.

However there really is no "fitting in" group in TS. There are obviously some who are bronies, some who are furries, some who are COD players, some who don't play anything, anime watching and non-anime watching and really there's no "genre" of people to "fit into" there.. Whether or not people believe it, we do welcome everyone kindly and answer any questions instead of a redirecting "it's in the forums lolnoob mad cuz bad" or "why don't you read the Q&A stupid noob mad cuz bad mad cuz bad mad cuz bad mad cuz bad". Being a REAL part of both communities and not just being in one, spectating the other. I don't see a comparison, in a way that Thirdstyle's far trumps FFR's in every way except for activity. Even that isn't everything though.

This would actually solve a lot of problems but apparently it is a on going problem that will probably last until either TS dies, FFR dies or if something huge were to happen that would force both communities to help each other out.

I must admit that it would be nice if both communities got along with each other but because of what happened in the past, it will be really hard for both FFR and TS to ever become friends with each other and that something you can never forget.

all the tag cloud does is populate the search bar. you can search by genre, so as not to complicate the UI with more buttons than necessary

Maybe I didn't express myself right. I didn't mean it that way. I just feel that I connect more with the players on FFR in chat for example rather than those in TS. Some of these users are the same, lol most of them actually, but I prefer the vibe there is on FFR. I can't quite explain it, though, it's just how I feel about it!

This site prob could have had potential, but I think the somewhat smart ones in this were the main owners who dropped out because it seemed like the knew this project was a failure and not worth the time. This game/site is so far behind, you cant keep people just because you got good graphics.

Actually, we keep people because we cater to new players with new files every week. I think it's funny that FFR has an easy batch because everyone steps hard files. And then people talk shit on those hard files but HEY w/e nigsauce.

Sure FFR isn't perfect, but at least it's constantly coming up and adding new things to the site, doing more than just adding new songs to the game.

For what it's worth, I like a lot of the songs on thirdstyle.

I don't know so much about the other arguments, but saying thirdstyle has bad music and then cherry picking is silly, considering how easy it is to find much worse on FFR. Need I remind everyone of some of FFR's worst?

DDR and ITG are the same thing. Saying otherwise is only an attempt to confuse what is obviously different themes.

Charts made for ITG can also be on DDR and vice versa. It's called PAD not DDR, not ITG.
