I don't think Stepmania is really dead, but I do think that the player base has dropped a lot. Step artist wise I think there's around the same amount of people as old gen artists

FFR's downtime killed off a good chunk of the community but we've come back pretty strong. lots of changes in file types tho

Well just scroll through this subforum and see what's up in the SM scene. Most packs are advertised here in one way or another.

idk what your base standards are for quality, but I can certainly say there has been changes in stepping styles, an occasional reminiscence for older styles, and a bit more experimenting on xmod stuff. I think the quality though has been steadily on an upward trend overall. Definitely more variety.

Also, solo is gradually becoming more known but still far from popular.

alright, thanks for the updates bmah. i'd consider increasing quality correlating with higher quality song choices (as in theoretically better music) and just generally better complementing music, e.g. pitch relevancy, layering, etc. with some added creativity.

i'll send something in if i pass my boredom threshold.
