Default Re: Who inspired you in FFR?

Well quite a few people. I'm gonna write my complete FFR biography, so everyone knows what they did for me, and to make most sure I'm not forgetting anyone.

WARNING: MASSIVE JERKAGE OF PEOPLE UP AHEAD.

I started playing seriously (other than that FB game called "guitar geek" which I whored like mad) on SM somewhere in 2009 and thought I was teh shit. I didn't know anyone who played the game until I managed to play in front of one of my best friend ever's boyfriend (Sébastien Tardif), which is a 02Jam whore. We played StepMania together and were pretty much equals, both landing AAs on Emerald Sword and stuff, and it was cool and we considered each others to be the best players ever (roflmao). And that pumped me to get better, so I gotta mention him somewhere, and that's what I'm doing now.

Then I stopped caring for SM and tried to find something different. I knew FFR from way back in early 2008 (on Children of Bodom's myspace xD there were 3 songs available, hellhounds, blooddrunk and blooddrunk [heavy]), but could never get on it (apparently it was down). Then someday I found out that it worked and as soon as I FC'd a 8 I made an account, and this is where I got my bubble burst.

Then my great and long time real life friend Chikapow decided to give it a try and we pretty much were always playing at the same time, a few hours per day. If she never went on here I would have walked away toward lone SM playing. She stayed on here until I became active on the forums.

Anyway, all thanks to Hakulyte and Wargasm1 for that bubble burst mentionned above.. To quote them in a shaky translation because they addressed to me in French:

"Yo, I hope you're not hoping to be competitive on here, your case is pretty much helpless. The level of skill going on here is beyond your imagination, I strongly suggest you only play for fun, otherwise your ego's gonna die."

They couldn't have said anything to make me feel any more competitive!! =)

Past that, Wargasm1 somewhat became my personnal FFR coach. I looked up to him so much, and he used to leave me "things to FC", which got my motivation skyrocket, getting more than 350mil. a day without even noticing!

Then I decided to get in touch with the community, and had a perfect occasion with the Scavenger hunt, which I spent over 500$ worth of shit and parking tickets (all that for an epic 2nd position). It also allowed me to get in touch with Justin_Ator, pretty much the first person on here I had the chance to personnally know through AIM, PM's and other meanings. I loved the community experience and you played a huge part in that, bro.

Then as the official was announced, I started looking up at the different faces on here, of all skills as well. Started paying attention to score threads and profile stat bars. Some people struck my mind more than others, namely iironiic, who had amazing stats for a "new" player". It did give me some hope, and you messaged me about tournament skillboosts, and told me I would destroy whatever division I would end up in! Thinking I was about to end in D1, that actually pumped the hell out of me. Thank you Wilson.

Then the tournament kicked in and this it where I got to meet a lot of people who are now my dear friends!

- I got to get in touch with CammyGoesRawr after seeing his suicide related random thought. I felt the need to PM him because I'm cool like that. We eventually became friends after that, and the guy is ****ing awesome. I mean, really. He's le-****in'-Cammy.

- I met Reuben_Tate, Skelogon (although I did exchange a few messages with this guy a few times before, considered him to be my rival!) and Magicturbo, who were playing in my division. These three are responsible for making me quit only playing songs to land a FC and not giving 2 flying ****s about my PA. I looked up to them, and wanted to beat them. They've been nice people actually! It's kinda sad that I've barely gotten to know you guys more personnally...

- I started getting in touch with some of the stepping part of this website, decided who were my favorite steppers on here, and eventually, I got to talk to them. I could name bmah, ichliebekase, kjwkjw and hi19hi19 for being massive motivationnal people in later making me want to get stepping techniques down.

- Still regarding stepping, so many people congratulated me for my mega detailed tournament song reviews. I guess it's the first time I got recognition for something I did on here, and hell it was good. You made me want to keep doing it and are the main reason behind one of my biggest FFR goals: Becoming a simfile judge.

- During the tournament I got to get in touch with many of the elite players, especially when I was asking for help and stuff. One Winged Angel gave me extensive guides for jacking (which are now my strong suit), Samurai7694 for actually talking to me like if I wasn't some low player and even getting to talk about the technical aspect of files which, even though I was telling him things without fully grasping the concept behind my words, helped me a whole ****lot understanding the game. We eventually collabed on a file (somewhat, I didn't do shit on it) later after the tournament and this is the turning point of the whole stepartist desire: it left a huge mark on me. I think that doing this with him really booted my filemaking abilities and desires. This collab is what makes me sure of having everything it takes to achieve what I want to achieve, even though I still have lots of work to do to make my way there.

After that, I kept meeting awesome people, but they weren't either rivals, inspiration or motivational forces. Just awesome peeps. That goes for all the friends that I've met on here!

TL;DR, in no particular order:

- CammyGoesRawr
- Sébastien Tardif
- Kjwkjw
- Samurai7694
- Ichliebekase
- Reuben_Tate
- Bmah
- Chikapow
- MagicTurbo
- Iironiic
- One Winged Angel
- Hakulyte
- Skelogon
- Wargasm1
- hi19hi19
- Justin_Ator
- Peeps who gave me positive feedback on my tournament song reviews

That's pretty much it, maybe I still forgot a few names.

Huge gratitude post, thanks to all the awesome player friends and non player friends that I met on here and made the experience even better! You know who you are too!

And special mention for these 2 people.

- Getting to know that Muirrir was my best friend's cousin gave me a small motivation boost, just not enough to count that an inspiration, is worth mentionning.

- Emotiions used to be a rival because we had similar scores and she was the first FFR person I ever met. She also have sex with the person I like to call my girlfriend, and that, pretty much everyday. Hello to you! =)[/spoiler]

this was my girlfriend in 2008
also that is in fact a fort we made out of duct tape and branches in the woods

girlfriend now is the first person on my friends list but she is heading down a road of alchoholism so I have some big decisions to make because we have been together for so long and can't just give up on her. She gets drunk EVERY day though, stupid drunk to where she loses everything and starts fights with me over stupid crap.
I will stop complaining because I mean who the hell has life problems pshhhhh

Shashakiro, Bahamut-X, darkshark... those were the beginning inspirations.

Now it's leonid, bmah, moches, GD, kommi, and a few others here and there.

Shashakiro was the original reason I pushed to get good. We went back and forth for the top spot for a good while up until he quit.

After that Rubix stepped in and further pushed me to get better for a while, competition inspires me like no other.

A lot of people, heheh.

In my early days (late '07) - folks from the first tourney I ever participated in - Thugzluv200, alley83, and HammyMcSquirrel (who was a million times a better player than I was back then!)

Then came a few very close friends and rivals who always encouraged me to improve - funmonkey54, Elite Ninja (who I knew by a different username back then), and T-Force (ditto).

And more recently, how could I forget my "broddas" iironiic and Xayphon =P
You two are awesome (and probably better than I am at FFR at this point) :'3

As for stepping, bmah's files inspire me a lot - and Niala and Silvuh's given me a lot of help and constructive criticism. ^.^=

PS special shoutout to everyone else in The Skype Room; you all inspire me as well :>

Haha, glad to have inspired you. x] We should talk more often xP

Anyways, my list:
(I might add some more people later...)
-Zak: I always remembered seeing scores from this guy back when I was in D2, and wanting to become as good as him. And well, he's inspired/motivated me to become better at this game and now it's like the best thing in the world to be competing/rivaling the person who I always looked up to. xD
-Middie: I always remembered seeing his massive score posts in the scores thread and back when I sucked, I always tried my best to see how close I could get (I never really got close back in my D2 days xD) And then back before I joined D4, he encouraged me and said he looked forward to competing with me one day, which inspired me to bump myself to D4 in Popsicle's tourney and I told Middie "NO, I WANT TO COMPETE WITH YOU NAUW! "
-Bmah: He always gave me good tips on how to improve on FFR (he was very specific with the physical aspects of it) and also gave me some song suggestions on how to get better at certain patterns (especially jacks) xD And he always encouraged me, I don't think I would have gotten my first VC AAA without his support xD He's just an overall nice and helpful person, thanks brent. :3
-HateAndHatred: I remember having to compete against you in the official, and when you told me you had so-and-so FGO's FC'ed I was like OMGWTF?! And you always gave me some songs to try and you were like my ffr coach xD
-CammyGoesRawr: You were the person that mostly inspired me to get better back during F&L1, we had a nice little rivalry going back then back when I skillboosted the **** out of D1 xD
-The skype room peeps :3

I wouldn't really say anybody motivated me for playing FFR. One of my friends in middle school, tnyhwk900 (hurrrrr username) showed me the game in like 2002 and I competed with him in skill for a couple years. Then he stopped playing and I started making simfiles and poop

that feel when its 2003 and you passed payon v1 for the first time one handed

I suppose Izzy would be the only other person that would have motivated me. Me and him have been best ******s for like 6 or 7 years now and we used to play all the time when I was at his house. He has always been better than me. Can't ever get close to his skill level

scottish! And also, when Laggy was here, he provided a good amount of inspiration.

Shashakiro's vids of him playing at his school were also pretty cool. I was always so in awe of him killing the jumpstream in hi19's Destiny on SM.

Ohhh and Dynam0 - I remember specifically seeing a vid of Pants, nearly FC, back in the day, and it was simply phenomenal.

Actually my older cousin inspired me to play this game :3 , he showed it to me when I was younger and I remember him being so good at it, and it made me want to play so I could be just like him.
