Re: What would you do with $640 million?!?!
Spend $30,000 on a computer that will only be for FFR standalone, then another $45,000 on an epic gaming computer. And finally go insane because I couldn't spend that much money if I tried.

Re: What would you do with $640 million?!?!
I think I'd randomly give out small chunks of it to deserving people - and I don't mean starving people in Africa or cancer victims or whatnot, but rather, cool/smart/interesting people, or friends or family, who are in a bad financial situation. I had an idea a while back to establish some kind of fund that would give out some number of $10k checks a year to random younger smart people who needed it. The point would not be to add to the list of existing scholarships, but to help people to concentrate on doing awesome stuff rather than trying to make ends meet.
Not gonna buy into the lottery, though - $640mil is not really any more useful than $30mil, and the chance of winning is so low that it'd probably end up better if I just spent all my money on a random junk stock, waited for it to double, and repeated it 15 or so times.

640mil is 21 times more useful than 30mil. Not to mention you can still continue on buying your junk stock minus a dollar rofl, win or not. |

Re: What would you do with $640 million?!?!
I mean it's not more useful to *me*. I don't think I could even spend $30mil on myself without wasting money, even over the rest of my entire life. So after that point it's just a number, and you can give it out or something, but it doesn't really enable you to do anything special.
e: To be clear, I'm talking in utility function terms, not in purchasing ability terms.

I rarely even buy anything
640 million would make me feel bad honestly. I would have more than enough for an over-comfy living space, but that's not the point. I'd wind up doing something like qqwref |

Every copy of Shirley Jackson’s ‘The Lottery’ has been checked out from the Springfield Public Library. Of course, the book does not contain any hints on how to win the lottery; it is rather a chilling tale of conformity gone mad.

Re: What would you do with $640 million?!?!
I wouldn't know how to spend the money to be honest. I would probably use only ten million to be highly satisfied in life (including opportunities, upgrades, and travel).
If I have extra money to spare, I will probably save a portion of it and probably will hand out money to those who I think deserve it. Chances are unlikely, but I am willing to spend few dollars for a few tickets. I don't think I'll get a ticket though since chances are very slim haha. It would be really exciting to see no winners for this jackpot. That jackpot will grow to ~$975 million if no one wins haha. |

Re: What would you do with $640 million?!?!
With this ludicrous amount of money, I'd basically have to devote my time to grinding the living shit out of drawing since I'm too much of a simple person haha

I would open up a table top gaming place, and call it Shivan Oasis, Kazandu Refuge, or Stensia Bloodhall or something cool if I could get permission.

Re: What would you do with $640 million?!?!
Well i'd complete a dream of investing in a large dobsonian telescope with a very upper end camera + TheSkyX Pro (Astronomy/Astrophotography gear) , while purchasing a cottage / residence in northern Ontario so there's little light pollution to get in the way of what I want to do.
I'd also splurge on a magnificent stereo system to get the best of sounds. I would also love to visit the arctic. Lake Hazen and Alert come to mind, you just cannot beat Arctic scenery. Lake Hazen is in Quttinirpaaq National Park, Canada's northernmost provincial park. Take a look here to see why I want to do this. You might be interested darkshark!

Re: What would you do with $640 million?!?!
Honestly though if I won the lottery, I wouldn't want people knowing about it. When people know you have money, attitudes change. It becomes harder and harder to tell who's real and who's hoping for some +NPV side benefit.
Even now I have no idea what to spend money on other than computer shit, a decent place to live, good food, games, and occasional travel. You don't need to be a multimillionaire to afford such a life. So I'd wind up investing most of it (of course, post-tax). You could do a lot with a few million dollars, placed well. |
