Howdy, kinda new and returning to FFR. I first started out playing Dance Dance Revolution and Pump It Up in the arcades. This is kinda new in the respect that it is done through a keyboard (fingers) and not via pad (feet). For some reason I was always better with my feet than with my fingers, so I am just lucky to pass some of these harder songs. Anyone have any tips/tricks up their sleeves they can share? Or is it all just "practice practice practice?" If you read this, thanks for reading
Hope to see some of you oneday up at the top of the FFR Ranks!*-=Seersofall=-* |

Work on getting your speed modifier up, most people generally play from 1.8x to 2.1x
Other than that, you've got it. practice practice pracitce |

welcome always good to have more ffr enthusiasts. Just keep practicing and making goals. Goals are very important like in anything you want to improve on

Very true, now my whole thing is, is I just passed Piano Etude (heavy mix) which is a level 11, or even go as far as march of the bumblebees and i can pass them. The problem is this... that I am still low in the percentage of the top ranker (Score total) because i just cant read the arrows that fast and use fingers 2&3 on the arrow pad and make it come out great. I suppose that is much of my problem. I did speed up the arrows to 1.3x and it has helped a little. Any faster though and I wont be able to read them >.< However, in DDR, i can play So Deep on 2x, dark (no top arrows), hidden (arrows only go up half the screen and vanish), reverse (arrows dont go up, they go down). I <3 my feet ^.^

Learn to play spread style, which would be a key setup like DFJK with one finger on each key.

That's why you can do x2 on so deep but only 1.3x on ffr, x2 on so deep would be 280 c mod or so since so deep is 140 bpm and you multiply that by 2, whereas 1.3x is about 405 bpm scroll rate which is way faster. Since I'm horrible at explaining this, you might want to check here for an explanation -->http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...=123125&page=2 Also if you want to know how fast the c-mod scroll rate is, if you use the velocity engine (this http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/~velocity/) when you write in the speed you want the c mod to be and hit set speed a number should pop up, that number is the constant bpm your scroll rate is at. Also welcome back to the forums! If you're a regular ddr player you should post some scores in here --> http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=123016 we could use some people posting in there

Start out with songs like 6 or 7 and play on a 1.4x speed mod if thats too slow; or once you get used to it, just ramp up your speed mod another 1.5 or 1.0 untill you reach your desired speed

yeah, i'm practicing with 1.3 right now and i changed the step keys to DFJK and so i am having to start low again and re-learn all of this over again >.< such a bummer. BUT it is more comfortable on the hands/wrists and i have noticed streaming and tripplets are easier. the hard part is now the doubles like ^> at the same time. this will get better with time i know. i do appreciate all the help. Hey, anyone use the beta version? i think i like it better. better options and smoother at any rate.

Don't rush into songs that you can't even read just yet, go with easier ones like 25thhour said.

Ugh. Boss Machine gave me so many fits back in the day, both to FC and AAA.
Check out all the long easy songs in Rock. Most of them have [heavy] after them because they're leftovers from a publicity stunt a while back. Do them now before you can't be bothered. XP |
