his point has been made, the point that donating probably wont do anything, and that he isn't going to, and that he's going to buy tacos, ok I get it. idk what people are agreeing with him with exactly besides being the 1 dude that isn't all DONATE NOW but I wouldn't donate to this either. its still OK to be upset by these events just like I have been for a long time, anything involving these sort of issues, specially violence and war etc. not against choof just against the attitude that wat is so special about this I can't believe the internet is spewing from the mouth over this
what do you expect p.s. i agree with choof about what to do in this situation there is just a difference in how you present the info, i didnt even see what he posted on the first page about solving it i just saw he posted a thing on fb and i was like lol why isnt this dude assassinated. then i came to the thread and of course i had to post as soon as someone said "cuz its the right thing to do" long story short i have nothing else to contribute

My issue is solely because of the "movement." I don't understand why it's so important now, compared to years ago (when Kony and the LRA was actually worse).
To be completely honest, I'm pretty upset that he's using children. I was abused pretty badly when I was a child, so I kind of know what they're going through (obviously I've never killed anyone or been threatened with death if I didn't do something). If another movement started where they actually asked for volunteers to go to Uganda, I would sign up in an instant, for a couple different reasons. People are going to donate, people aren't going to donate. If you think donating to this movement is going to help, then whatever. Obviously I can't change your view. But I think it's stupid. You can still make people aware of this. I was on the phone with my mother today, I'm going to dinner with her and my brother tonight. I actually mentioned Kony2012 on the phone. No t-shirt, no bullshit bracelets that I'll lose in my couch, no poster that I'm going to keep rolled up for months. All I had to do was say "hey mom, you heard about this Kony2012 thing?" Bam, now my mom is aware. I'm not going to donate, because that's money I could be using to help myself and/or people I know personally. If you think I'm not doing the right thing by keeping my money for myself, then I hope you enjoy the t-shirt you get. You won't be wearing it in a couple months anyway.

yeah see, thats what i thought. honestly though, theres no reason to have a hang up just cause everyone cares all of a sudden, its a good thing. maybe some people will be obnoxious at first cause they never realized shit like this happens all the time on scales they were never aware of, let them feel like a firefighter hero for awhile and sort it out. just like when someone first realizes how animals are treated in slaughterhouses and pounds etc some people will say who cares some people will be sooo disgusted all they can think of is to be vegan and extreme, but then they realize they just have to be level-headed and work towards a brighter future and do all they can, personally, not fighting all the worlds battles from behind a sign or a kb or w/e
while we have luxuries like the internet why not see how far they can take us, and see if it can actually improve the situation and not just cause a cluster**** like the protest wall street w/e sry for calling you fat

Hi
|
I've read everything and I can understand where both sides are coming from.
But what gets me are these comments: "You pay money to them, get a kit, you think you're a hero, blahblahblah." Excuse me but, I have never heard of this man until yesterday around the time I first posted on this thread. I know all the video asked was to help spread knowledge of who the asshole was, which I immediately wanted to do. I wasn't being forced to donate, I wanted to on my own because...believe it or not...I was horrified about the situation and actually with all of my heart wanted to help with what I can and...wait for it...did it without thinking of myself as being some 'hero'. I know it's not a lot and I wish I can do more, but I did what I can for now and I'm hoping I can help spread who Kony is in my community just because I honestly feel for those kids and despise what this man is doing. Derp, I donated money, I must think I'm some glorious bastard now, right? |

What does it matter if someone else does something that you don't agree with if it doesn't affect you in any way?

I'm at work asking peers and and another co-worker who works as an intern for non-profit organization talking about this. I've gain more perspectives on this subject, still thinking at the least donating what I have was right.
But there really isn't just ONE right. Advocating and sharing the awareness is just as right as not spending any money for this organization. Knowing about Kony is a start, but the organization's intentions of finding him and bringing him to justice really ISN'T a solution. Kids are brainwashed and are in his rebellion, so in order to get to him, there may be kids who will fight against the good fight. If this was for the kids, some may die if retaliation is used. I agree with make people aware of Kony and the terrible things he has done, 'tis why I did my part. But putting things in perspective, violence and retaliation does not solve anything. Choof, t-rog, I never shitted on your standpoint, and I am with volunteering. I just fuccen hate tacos bro.

also the only reason i came back was because i read a post that deadmau5 made and thought he made a good point so i came to post it
"well YES… i do get a lot upset inside when war is waging in other lands, and im sitting here making music, or planning a tour. Seems the only thing i can do is just read up about a little more about it, maybe spread a little more “awareness”. But to me “awareness” is a funny thing… So there i was standing outside my house as it was burning down. To create awareness, i screamed out loud, i tweeted, i facebooked, “HOLY ****, EVERYONE… MY ****ING HOUSE IS BURNING DOWN” everyone came over… and we were all very upset, we talked about it, we raised more awareness… yeah.. everyone was well aware that my shit was burning down. Then my ****ing house burnt down. What would have been awesome is if people brought a hose, or a bucket of water, or something that might subdue the flames."

I was more talking about donating money.
But as for that, it is interesting as to why it should matter to everyone. It's hard to argue against Kony being wrong, but most of the people who watch this video are getting sucked in just because it makes them feel bad. Is feeling guilty enough of a reason? At any rate this is related to one of my favorite video game quotes. ![]()
