You realize a lot of people DO use technicality to mean "anything that doesn't flow well" i.e. a synonym for awkwardness.
Just because it's not your vision of the word isn't stopping a good portion of the community from using it in a different capacity.

Technicality in the sense of "following the music exactly" overlaps with technicality in the sense of "patterns that do not flow well" when you take it to the extreme. A low tone that sounds, quickly goes up a pitch, then returns to the original pitch might be most accurately (and thus technically) be charted as 121, but that doesn't mean it's not an obnoxious pattern that doesn't flow well for spread at high speeds. People who favor less technical stepping might use a pattern like 131 because a 2-handed pattern flows much better for spread players.
And thus the overlap between the two uses of the word.

Technicality only becomes awkward when it's overdone. I've been known to be an offender myself by stepping PR too literally, but I've learned that it's okay to sacrifice a pattern that might be perfectly justified with PR for the sake of better flow, resulting in what is, in my opinion, a better and more fun file. After all, the 'rules' so to speak of stepping aren't too strict and mostly up for interpretation (to a certain extent, obviously).

Glad to see a lot of people enjoying Imaginary Sky xD.

Maybe I should stick to submitting a easy stuff instead of sending a bunch of superlayered ssh files. =P

Yes please, SSH is boring :/ I do REALLY like your file, it's a very clean, simple file with nice grace notes and mini-jacks that really do fit. I'd actually like to see a Heavy version of this or something, i.e. a difficulty 5 or 6. I think it would work nicely.

Etude On A Nimbus is amazing.

Mahou no Fou's jacks are retarded and like hi19 said, the JS doesn't flow that well imho. For once I kinda agree with Middie and I feel like every sound was stepped lol.

I breathe the cosmos was really nice. I only thought the intro was awkward with the actual placement of the arrows vs the sound, but that's just me. Great file.

Absolutely. And we need to have both extreme ends (e.g. bmah/xandertrax file, midare/mina dump) so we can calibrate exactly where in the continuum our ideal file lies. Of course, that doesn't mean either extreme deserves to be in FFR.

I think when people criticize technicality they are criticizing OVERtechnicality. Obviously people are gonna want the chart to go to the music - otherwise we'd just accept dumps - but if the tradeoff is between something like 90% technical and 90% fun, and 100% technical and 20% fun, then I think it's clear which one should be chosen. When you try to go to the music so much that the player can't even tell what your notes are going to as they play the file in real time, or when you match the PR so closely that the patterns require way more speed than they should, you've made a bad file. I'd like to think that one of the things that makes a stepartist good is that they can realize when they did something wrong in a chart, and learn from their mistakes, so they can eventually end up with files that make everyone ruin their pants.

I know this is a bump, but I just wanted to confirm something.

For Mahou no Fu, isn't the title supposed to be "Mahou no Oshigoto" (魔法のおしごと)?

woah woah woah. Who put Mahou no Fu way down there below EHHS? Song's WAY harder than Powerpuff Gabberz (why u so high?). Honestly that song blew me out of the water. It was so easy then jumpstreamz and I was like phew that's over then jakzzzzzz. Awesome song and file though, really dig it. Also love Powerpuff Gabberz, bit behind on stuff so mention that now that's a terrific file and fun song too. That page in Dance 2 needs reworking tho...

Haven't played other songs
