Default Cropping

Can someone crop out the character and put it on a transparent background?

Will give 5k credits if you can

I did it as good as I can. BTW, I don't want credits for my work. I hope it's good enough :P

You should get Photoshop. It's literally 1 click and the delete button to do what you just asked.

I don't know if it's because I'm still using CS2, but you're going to have shitty white lines around your cutout if you do that.

Best program I have for transparency and basically all around editing haha, and it's free. :)

Make sure it's saved as a .png

then you're harming the black lines rofl

edit: not trying to 1up you, I'm just posing the problem that I had before I discovered that using the magic wand, then polygonal lasso is a better way of getting the white out.

If I wanted to do it in the near future what tool should I use?

Some people tell me to use pen tool and some people tell me to use quick selection tool.

Working with JPG, expect it to never work as intended.

lolwat I used magic wand and polygonal lasso. I see no difference in quality when the background is pure white, pure color fill layers can be magic wanded and still produce as good quality crops as polygonal.

btw i use CS5 so update or something, cuz i'm not getting any problems on my side...

Personally I would have used the magic wand tool and then used the Refine Selection feature from the select menu. That thing does wonders. I think it's only in cs4 and up though.

Yes, refine edge does help, however compressed JPG images make it hell to work with. Especially when converting to transparent! You might get the edges right, but there are still white patches here and there to heal and fix. It doesn't take very long, at all, but it is still a pain in the ass. (And then there is the fact that you are still dealing with a JPG which looks like crap to begin with.)

really, the only problem with the lasso tool is the square-ish edges that you have to make not squared with more clicks around the curve. The only other problem is when you cut too much into the black, and have to redraw some of the lines. It produces such smooth clean edges though.
