Re: Methods of spreading FFR popularity
Facebook's application system is garbage. No one would be able to play properly on it if there was an engine. lol

Re: Methods of spreading FFR popularity
It's laggy as molasses in a snowstorm uphill.. I know my computer is a horrible piece of garbage, but I can run Flash games, and even the facebook games run at like 15FPS if that on my computer. lol
edit: i.e. we probably COULD draw a crowd on Facebook, but they might get discouraged if all they get are averages and goods because the system facebook uses is laggy. edit2: YES, I remember the Come Play with Us! Links, That's not how I got here, but I remember them. Last edited by Emithith; 12-9-2011 at 01:32 AM.. |

Re: Methods of spreading FFR popularity
The FFR Kongregate App drew a fair amount of attention, and I guess Tass' "FFR is down. The game won't load because of that." message probably isn't helping.
Just introduce FFRlite into a few high traffic gaming websites (say miniclip, kongregate, newgrounds) to draw users in. Then add a "Join the community, we have awesome shiz!!one11!1" message on the engine. How hard can it be? Inb4 impossible |

But, then again this is all just from my outside logic of flash games/kongregate, and me probing into things, but not actually being a part of the developing world. So what I say could be 100% wrong. We definitely need Velo's, Zaggy's, and maybe even Tass's input on this. edit: It's not "impossible" if Tass did it, It's just either too hard, or annoying and too time taking to even bother with for people to do. |

Re: Methods of spreading FFR popularity
I personally think it needs better music to get more people. I understand alot of songs are hard to get permission for but all my friends who have seen me play usually make fun of the asian sounds here and there or the weird beeping. Most people don't like rap but if we got more rap that would be good, especially rap songs beginners can play. More rock songs with more mainstream bands like avenged sevenfold, system of a down, slipknot, three days grace and anything in between would help too. Even if you don't agree with my taste I know a tremendous amount of people who like that kind of music it's the same everywhere.

I'm forever taking videos from youtube and even my own replays and posting them on facebook...whether my friends start playing or not is up to them I guess I'm not sure how many even actually take the time to watch what I post but at least I'm doing something =P I also agree though that permissions for more mainstream artists would bring a great deal of people in if not just to hear their favorite songs.

Re: Methods of spreading FFR popularity
Not doubting those who have tried, but is it difficult to attain permission from a well-known band? I know some give the silent treatment, but srsly.
If we get a Kongregate app up and running, we probably should PM Greg about placing it on front page. Moar exposure=moar people. |

Re: Methods of spreading FFR popularity
I'll look into getting some permissions for more mainstream artists. Did we ever have a "so-and-so rejected our permissions" thread? So we didn't ask artists 50+ times?
If not, I suggest one be made (by someone willing to keep up with it. If nobody is willing, I will do it).

Re: Methods of spreading FFR popularity
To convince most people to play on an individual person by person basis you don't want to overwhelm them with your skill. That demoralizes them right off the bat. It's actually best not to even show how good you are and just have them sit down and play the game and explore for themselves, answer any questions they may have.

Re: Methods of spreading FFR popularity
Most people who watch me play FFR back in high school would associate it with a rhythm game they are familiar with like Rock Band, Guitar Hero or DDR. Some called me a nerd, haha...
But anyway, the only way FFR will ever get plenty of attention is when it goes viral, introduced in or associated with something mainstream. Make it happen and people you'll get.

Re: Methods of spreading FFR popularity
I did that a few times Emithith, it works for a little bit. But no one (at least not my friends) got SUPER involved.
