FFR 6th Official Tourney Songs Discussion: Round 4

There were a few people in the higher divisions comparing it. I only mentioned it because they might have a valid point at their skill. When you pit a D5 player against Mourning the Lost, it's likely that they'll have some problems trying to score on it, particularly the 16th streams that have 8th note jumps separating them. It's an obvious comparison to someone who's not at the D6 level, where players may not have developed their speed entirely.

i'd say halcyon is a hard 11 but there are quite a few harder ones imo
i love the shit out of halcyon and sambista, but sambista as a tournament file is just uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh
i basically fc'd halcyon first try (combo break in the last 10 notes rofl), i can NOT say the same for sambista

Halcyon is just an upper FMO IMO, it's not that batshit hard, just some stupid sections.

I actually agree with Sweet_Feet, the bursts are easy for me, its that M.A.M.A. esc jumpstream part that messes with me lol. I've dumped so many goods there so many times XD.

Anyway, what I and Gundam-Dude said. What the hell does the file rating change? It doesn't change the file itself. It's the chart that makes the difficulty and not that little number next to it's title. It doesn't change what you are going to play once you click on it.

That number is only there to tell you if it's in your range of playing, so you don't have to shuffle random songs until you can find something adapted to what you're looking for.

Of course, that system may need revision. And yeah, maybe there's some arguing to be done. Like I said, I think that Halcyon is harder that half the FGOs out there. And if it's rated over the entirety of the file, make Crowdpleaser a 9, or a low 10, because all realistically, there is like half a second where someone from D1 would break his combo. Lol. There is no way to qualify what a file is made of using a simple number.

IMO, I'd like to see Stepmania's difficulty system in the game. Like the Chaos-Freeze-etc polygon. That'd do the job much better than just that difficulty scale. And have it done automatically by a computer. Then there wouldn't be much to argue against it since the computer would decide.

But I'm getting off topic.

TL;DR: Stop caring that much about the difficulty number. It's not so misguiding so Death Piano is a 6. Play the file and concerning for a difference of one level isn't really worth it and can't be realistically helped with the current system as we all know.

I still claim Radical Rat has that edge over Toxiferous for hard FMOs. :care:

As for Halcyon, it plays like a top-end FMO in the vein of a faster 4CT. Some of those 24th sections can be rough (though they are still incredibly forgiving when it comes to a general avoidance of jacks), but the majority of the file is just dense jumpstream with burst transitions (except that stuff at 1100 which is just silly).

I say it should remain one of the harder FMOs... like Kirby and Radical Rat.

I cannot do the really fast burst roll after the 24ths in Sambista, rest of the song is easy, can't miss a good in those.

And what a ****ing HUGE difficulty jump for Halcyon. Jesus it's way harder than Iraq that song is def a really high FMO. Wow bursts in dense jumpstream. Good luck D5, sheesh you guys really did get a kick in the face. I'm having tons of trouble with that song currently.

Bmah, you have once more proven why I consider you the best stepartist we have. Also, Wiinter dream is by far my favorite song and file, second I saw bmah + yamajet I knew it would be. Halcyon is close but it's just way too cluster **** to enjoy some parts.

Tough round for nearly everyone guys, I guess here is where they weed out the champions and those who got lucky.
