^ I agree with this lol. I actually have yet to just write about files on how I feel strictly as a player so here goes.

D1 - I love love love this as an easier file. It's just so fun and energetic.
D2 - Derp my own file.
D3 - I really don't see why there's so much hate on this file it actually flows really nicely. I love this file, I shoulda sightread it but derped somewhere and average flagged it lmao.
D4 - Poor bmah getting so much hate for this file, I actually really enjoy it, even though it's combo break bait for me and will probably knock me out of the tourney. Regardless I think it's really fun, I love technical stuff.
D5 - I haven't really played this yet but some of those patterns look pretty mean lol.
D6 - Little bit out of my league still. May try in the AM after some sleep.

I just can't get over how ****ing horrendous the D6 file is to me. It doesn't help that I bleed goods out of my anus because of how irritatingly synced it is.

technicality != layering/rhythm accuracy

A technical file is best described by a file that pushes many different techniques or skills within it, as Kayla is mentioning. D4's file uses quite a few tricky jumpstream patterns, a ton of mini-jacks, strange rhythms, really fast 48th bursts, fast 32nd bursts, 24th bursts mixed with layering, heavy accenting...

There's quite a bit to test in this file, including your focus as a player to keep up with the constantly changing structure.

A file like Mourning the Lost on the other hand isn't a -technical- file, because all it really pushes is streaming (occasionally jumps in it).

lol on a thread-related note, I didn't think the 3[23]3[23]3[23]... sections in Mourning would pose a problem for me, but now that I've read that it's screwing some of you guys up, it's more than likely gonna screw me up as well -_-

I would have fixed the sync if I had the time, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway because of the chart fix. The sync is a bit tough to handle in some spots where the BPM increases by an abrupt amount, but it sounds like it should in the song when they do happen.

The sync isn't perfect but it's certainly nowhere near as bad as it could have been.

Well now that I've figured out how to PA the first 800ish notes where it's most noticeable, I can't help but laugh at how it sounds when I play... parts of the song where it feels like the BPM is generally unchanging result in me going subtly faster or slower in order to PA the file.

Really, it just took a few runs to adapt to, as is the case with pretty much any file, sync issues or not.
