I have been reading lots of posts, and lots of comments, and i came up with this thread.
What do you think of the after life? As i have been sitting on my bed for an hour, trying to answer my self i went up to my brother and asked him what he thinks. We sat down on the kitchen table, and started talking. I asked him "How come we, can't remember what we were in our past generations? How can't i remember if i was a cat, or a bird, or a fly?" My brother told me "That is the way God created us, for some reason he doesn't want us to remember, but only your soul remembers" I asked him, if there is anyway or actually REMEMBERING. He looked at me and said, "I'm going to tell you, but you have to promise you are not going to do it" So i promised him, and he said, "In the Tora, there was a King, he was also, like you, he wanted to know what he was, or how he was in his past generations, or as you call it "after life" So he went to a "witch" or a psychologist, and told her to connect him with his other life, and he found out all the secrets that were hidden in this world. God punished him" Then he told me "If you went to that so called psychologist and told him/her to connect you with your other lives, what would you think if you discovered you were Hitler?" I said no more, but closed our disscusion in saying "God, i wish i could remember who i was before i was born"

That story kind of sounds made up. Asking your brother this and him taking you to a table and talking about it like that, it sounds fake, but I guess the same thing could have been said in a different situation. I wish I was a princess in the afterlife or something.
I often think how it would be cool to go back in time and re-live your life with all of the knowledge you already had, which would explain why you would be a genius baby. A 1 year old doing Algebra II? Sounds cool. Or you could just play along and not make the same mistakes in life that you regret, because you already learned. You could be a better person, too. I always think how cool it would be to do that.

It's an interesting thought. I think I'll meditate on it a bit.

I promise you Jurs..
It's not made up.. My brother is studying about it now O.O I wish i was a kid that can do Algebra II! That would be awesome! Never actually thought of that... But what i think is that my brother was Albert Einstein, since he is 3, and can play on the computer + do math... You give him a picture of 2 triangles and he is like "OH IS 2!!" well, close to Eintein...

What makes you think there's reincarnation?
I've found that reincarnation is a belief widely held by people who want to believe in an afterlife but can't grasp the concept of life without death. |

I don't really beleive in the afterlife. However, I can't imagine that there is absolutely nothing after we die.

HEY RevenG, stop being annoying!
And I'm guessing saying you HAVE to believe in an afterlife is poor wording. You don't HAVE to believe in anything, you just do it. As for me, I'm not entirely sure where I stand on this issue. I've been raised to think that there will be a greater life waiting for me after death than what I live through now, and that's pretty much what I've accepted all my life. It's something I just don't think about too often. |

Well... My mom always threatens me! By saying... "Oh God would punish you if you don't listen and respect me"
Well, i guess i don't really want to die and not remember what i was, or who i am. I feel blank, and empty trying to figure out WHO I WAS before i was born.

Ok. Just got a little confused when you were talking about what you were wondering you were in previous lifes, and then when you said you were Jewish. So just clarify for everyone: Do you believe in reincarnation?

No i do not.
The "after life" Means to me, where you go after you die, for example, Heaven.

I don't believe in anything after death.
The whole reincarnation idea is cool, but still rediculous in my mind as to actually being true. |

I think having all that knowledge as soon as you are born would be maddening. Try sitting for four years until you develop the proper motor skills to access your knowledge to some degree. And then, it only looks like scribbles.
Now, if you had the motor skills to match your brains, retaining knowledge when you're born... That'd be something to see. Mal
