This clip from Colbert Report is too funny not to share

I also want to talk informal politics ITT. Seriously, our system is so absurd that people like this can actually garner so much attention and have a serious shot at the highest office in our nation. |

Lol, so sad. I don't really have much to contribute to the "discussion" you want, but things get so pathetic around election time and when these candidates are trying to get the nominations....

Yeah I saw that episode last night, the Hitler clip caught me hella off-guard.
However Obama is doing a fairly decent job so far given the broken system he has to work within. So my vote's with him. Although if Herman Cain wins I think everyone gets free pizza, so it's really a hard choice to make. |

The only republican I'd vote for is Ron Paul.

FOR THE LOVE OF SHIT PEOPLE. Just because Ron Paul supports the legalization of marijuana doesn't mean that he's not ass-backwards in everything else.

I honestly feel like Obama will win re election by a landslide, just because the Republicans are bloody insane. I don't smoke marijuana but I'm still on the Ron Paul 2012 bandwagon. It just sounds too good not to vote for him.

All I know is that if the GOP wins the Presidency in 2012, you have nobody to blame but yourselves for putting these idiots into power. No responsible voter would dream of voting Republican this time around. There's simply too much batshit loaded in that wing.

Re: This clip from Colbert Report is too funny not to share
No matter how well Obama does, it's pretty likely the GOP will win this election. It's feel like its a back and forth thing in which people will just turn to whoever is different from the people in power. But really.
Politics is confusing. |

Re: This clip from Colbert Report is too funny not to share
The only thing confusing about it, to me, is why so many people are so deluded and ignorant that they would even CONSIDER putting someone into power who is clearly going to butt**** them in return. It's seriously one of the most depressingly hilarious hoaxes ever (almost as depressingly hilarious as the huge fraction of our population that doesn't "believe" in evolution or thinks it's still up for debate).
EDIT/APPEND: http://www.balloon-juice.com/2011/10/10/long-division/ "The greatest hoax of the last couple of decades has been the ability of the right wing to co-opt members of the struggling lower middle class and lower class and pretend they speak for them while enacting policies that enable the super-rich. They’ve used wedge issues like gay marriage and abortion and the baby Jeebus to alienate folks from their own economic interests, feeding them a steady diet of hatred of minorites, the educated, science, and, well, reality to create a voting block of people so guided by hatred of the “other” that they would crawl over broken glass to cut their nose off to spite their face." Re: This clip from Colbert Report is too funny not to share
Something that really confuses me is how people seemingly allowed themselves to vote for Obama based on two criteria: he speaks eloquently and he's black. And to put more salt in the wound, they turn around and call everyone racist when we question the validity of voting for someone because of their ethnic background (ignoring all other qualifications) when I feel it's pretty much "racist" to put all your faith in a person simply because they're black (and thereby excluding any non-black candidates from ever having a chance). I'm hoping I'm wrong on this one, but that's what I was being told by most of the people I asked. It's all about the "hope" and "change" and he's black, that's a huge plus. Scary..
As far as evolution goes, I feel there's a general misconception (or I'm wrong myself) but evolution doesn't serve to explain how life came about, it only serves to explain that X came from Y, where Y was the original species, or something like that. And a lot of people get really defensive and think you're trying to explain that evolution is taking the place of God, when in fact the two don't really have anything to do with each other, but I could wrong on all of that, I don't really do my research on any of that. EDIT: I could care less who you voted for, just have actual reasons is all I'm saying. |

I'm not going to elaborate much more on the evolution bit because that's not what this thread is about, but evolution is fact. It's not up to opinion, despite what many still think today. There's no "debate." We weren't created. Therefore, anyone who thinks we need a personal God to explain anything is simply ignorant of science and the evidence. |

Re: This clip from Colbert Report is too funny not to share
To be honest, I not sure when was the last time we had a good president. Of course Bill Clinton but the one thing that's stuck in my head about him is the impeachment attempts against him.
I have my beliefs on evolution but I'm not gonna argue about it. |
