Honestly I can't get sub 40's on these files and that says something. To me at least. Files like this I would easily teen good them. But, yeah, newer step artists mean, newer quircks and weaknesses exploited, for obvious reasons.

NOT to mention as Ichlie just pointed out to me.

Is there specifically something against me per say in this tournament? I stated this in the beginning before the tourney even started about some weaknesses I've had. Trills being one of them. Why the &%#@ have we had trills in almost every damn song? That's .... not challenging but annoying doing the same bullshit over and over... if we have trills next round I'm quitting ... idgaf either. .
uh...we had the files set in stone before you even outright said your "weakness" -- as far as I was concerned you were someone who was good at jacks/trills, but w/e.

Crimson Crescent was jack-oriented
Anarchy was jumpstream-oriented
For Sean was a technical file, with various patterns, PR'd trills in the intro
La Camp had two sets of trills, but is technical-oriented as well
Jam Session was speed/burst oriented; tons of 250+ BPM stream
Himiko was a technical file with two fast trills, both very short (you actually scored better than all but TWO people on this song - OWA/Alloyus), otherwise, just very heavily layered
Emotions is something that pushes all skills, speed, trilling, jumpstreaming, etc - there's a few shorter trills but that's it.
And Drinking Stories has a few short trills, but is technical-oriented and focuses more on broken/layered stream.

none of the songs have had just trills; the songs have been coincidentally stepped the same way for certain sections that call for it. There's nothing wrong with the way the current files are stepped on an objective level, sync is right, rhythms are correct, and even on a subjective level, these files shine in certain ways that only the specific stepauthor can do.

In the meantime, I'm going to update the tournament.

lol Frankie if this tourney targeted people's weaknesses then I'd be ****ed. There's a lot of minijacks/odd patterns/Songs I don't even wanna listen to/stream all things that screw me.

lol and last time I checked I'm in first. Go figure?

Oh, almost forgot.

Puzzler64: Your Ghosts in the Dark improvement was after the the round's end date, and the deduction would have reduced your current score, so I didn't add it.

First off, a little improvement on my own division's file. Damn this thing is hard to consistently PA, no one part is too hard it's just long and tricky.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I put a lot more effort into the reviews this round because the files are undoubtedly the best of the tournament so far. I especially spent time on the D6 files and also ichlie's file because she requested it.
I hope that at least the step artists are reading these, I'm trying to be as helpful as I can with them.

This file has a little of everything for beginners- some short rolls here, some faster stream there, some trills over here... really nice tournament file in that regard.
The 8th note patterns before the 12th staircase flowed really well.
The minitrills at the end were maybe a little mean, but honestly appropriate for the difficulty. The noobs will learn to hate trills eventually, might as well start them off right away.
One issue was that the trills speed up in the song but are constant 12ths in the file, so on my sightread I got a boo and average from following the music and going way too fast on one of them. Of course in the interest of difficulty I know why you did this, just mentioning it.
10/10 the song itself was pretty bouncy and fun and the file suits it perfectly.
I forgot to take the screenshot of my sightread but I got 4-1-0-1. This is my second run:

Well, not sure why you were worried about this file!
Overall, a really good choice of the sounds to layer- going with the 16ths when the melody wasn't busy, and the easier drums when the melody turned to harder rhythms. In general it had a nice flow because of this.
One thing of note is the 1(23)4 pattern in the middle of the file. When I saw the preview video I was thinking "ooh that's nasty" and sure enough, on my run that's the jump I split >_>
It's not too big of a deal though because there's no difficult transitions into or out of it.
Really this is a rather simple song, and you did a fantastic job with it. All I can suggest is you challenge yourself and step something trickier :P
10/10 nothing to complain about, quite suitable for D1.

I've noticed Scintill has some sort of fetish for large swaths of white arrows 0_o
I mean it made sense with the special sound and the cOloR ThEorY but I just thought it was funny.
Anyway great song choice, obviously some fun rhythms as a result and general awesomeness. Not too much to say really, it's that good.
10/10 this Scintill dude makes seriously fun files. You have a new fan here :D
No idea where I blackflagged this, it felt like an AAA to me...

First thing I noticed is that Dossar stepped this with almost the exact same style as he did Herzilein.
In general this one felt a little bland. I feel this song deserved a little more variation, a few minutes of basically just jumpstream doesn't really do it justice.
There were some nice trill sounds in the guitar, some things that could have been PR'd, you know just to break it up somewhat. Didn't help that this was a bit long for a lower division file.
8/10 because there's nothing wrong with it, and as it is the file is fun and flows decently well, but I feel there was some missed opportunity to make it more interesting.

(Already reviewed the D3 files when I posted my first scores. tl;dr version, they're fun and I like them.)

Wow, this song was excellent! Kinda started like bad porno music but it really picked up, love that rock organ sound <3
The fast 32nd triplet patterns and the gallops were not that bad to PA for me, but for some reason I dumped a lot of boos on them near the beginning of the file. Took a bit to figure out how to hit them, at first it just seemed easy to screw up and get a boo.
Absolutely a 10/10, extremely fun file and one I will play again.

My file... First impression? Not sure if the polyrhythm section is worth a whole 3 points of increased difficulty. It turned out to not be as bad on FFR as it was on SM.
As for the file I already mentioned that 16th minijack in the polyrhythm section I would remove, that's about it. AJ or Kayla definitely snuck a 64th into this chart that was not there- don't think I didn't see that you two!
I get the feeling they changed a few other things in that section too but I'll wait until the .sm files are released to compare closer. Interested to see what changes you guys thought were necessary.
This score is pretty bad- I didn't put much effort into this because I'll be hearing this song plenty whoring my own division...

Haha, another Dossar file in his style: stream to the hi-hats, jumps on melody, profit. This file felt like Theme of Laura Gamma.
Anyway compared to Theme of Laura I found the patterns in this file, despite being waaay faster, actually flowed better. Plus the solo broke up the file nicely- more of an "old style" guitar solo sync job without all the color arrows, which I can still appreciate.
The long yellow arrow jacks on the offbeats were fun, not entirely sure what they were going to but I'll buy it.
10/10 not very technical, but who cares because it's feels great to play.
Also, I either kinda raped this song on my sightread or it seems rather easy for D5. Consider that I scored worse on the D2 song than this one.

And in sharp contrast to Dossar's file we have this. Wow, super technical.
At first I thought the chart was overlayered compared to the intensity of the song, but once it picked up a little I saw why you chose to layer it the way you did.
Obviously I got my misses in those runningmen, I can see them being difficult without the jumps and polyrhythms- not entirely sure if all that extra crap on them was necessary, but hey it's the [Oni] version, might as well go nuts XD
It's a good thing the two 32nd spams flowed well, they could have been brutal but turned out to be nicely readable.
The jumpstream with the 32nds in it at the end felt like the weak point of the file. The 32nds in the stream really killed the flow of the section for me. Unfortunately off the top of my head I'm not really sure how I would have done it differently.
I have to say this though: siiiiick song. Where do you get all this chiptune/rock stuff? I'm really liking it.

THIS FILE, SO GOOD!
Another one I wish was for my division! lol D3 guy wanting to play D6 files, maybe I should stick to Dossar's tournaments?

Anyway, my first impression was that this file is Alchemy's big brother, with the prog-rock sound, color solos and technical stepping to the rhythm guitar.
It was very nice that most of the difficult crap is in the beginning. The solos were well synced and had nice PR and flow.
Huge props for the snare drum jumptrill section after the first 24th run. It flows really well- aperson did something similar in 12 Bar Bloops, and I agree that pattern is fantastic for that type of drum roll sound.
I had no problem with the difficulty mellowing out in the middle. Despite being super easy it remained fairly technical and engaging.
Minor nitpick- you missed a jump in one of the jumpstreams around 1490 combo. It's pretty noticably absent.
Anyway on this sightread I chose to mash all the 1-handed trills and the transition out of the long 24th up/down trill. On later runs I found these parts weren't that hard to do legit, but I never got PA anywhere close to what I got on my sightread.

Awesome patterns in this file. Lots of potential for awkward 1-handed patterns and anchors but it all flowed well.
There were two runningmen near the end that really tripped me up, but I assume this more an issue with my lack of skill than the file.
I laughed when that huge roll came up. Not too hard but pretty funny the first time you see it.
Really like the 23(14) 32(14) repeating section near the end, it flows very nicely for that repeating sound.
The ending 48ths took me by surprise. They're mashable but for someone going for perfect PA that's a rather nasty difficulty spike right at the end.
The mini jumpjack in the beginning was a little mean, it has a nasty transition out of it.
My last thought: I hope you're submitting a chart similar to this to FFR! If I were a judge I'd definitely want this on the official engine, it's a lot of fun.
My sloppy sightread:

Played it a few more times and cleaned it up somewhat. A bit too fast for me to get PA any better than this, and a bit too intense to FC without a lot of work/mashing.

Also: AJ AND KAYLA DID YOU GET MY PM!? Y U NO RESPOND

EDIT- QQ bottom paged ;(
