Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #6
That's the nature of the song, from the sounds of it. I guess the artist wanted a highly articulate piano section in the middle of a relatively tame song. Don't think the steps are trying to do anything differently.

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #6
difficulty spike = bad file
its not that the notes are off or anything. its that you made a horrid difficulty spike. also, inb4 kmay doesnt step so kmay wouldnt know.

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #6
Nope. Common misconception with exception to Crowdpleaser.
It's funny how this is what most people actually expect. That's not realistic. Last edited by bmah; 09-28-2011 at 12:04 AM.. |

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #6
Well personally I wanted and like spikes in charts. It keeps you on your toes and makes it so there's actually something to work at to get the AAA. We don't really like AAA fests in our tourneys. At least not without some working at it.

minor difficulty spikes have absolutely nothing to do with bad files. Difficulty spikes are typically what make good files that much more memorable.
files without spikes are typically really boring. |

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #6
i like when i file is a constant difficulty throughout. the spike just makes the rating higher for like 5 seconds of the chart being much harder.

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #6
The only real file that abuses difficulty spikes to the max in FFR is Crowdpleaser. Nothing tops that, seriously. lmfao
party4u v1 and St. Scarhand are also pretty bad but those are tokens at least

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #6
I like the idea of difficulty spikes in this tournament. Like you guys said, it keeps you on your toes and it can also help you grow as a player.

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #6
Constant difficulty is boring, and I definitely can appreciate fluctuating difficulty, but one single spike so completely unrelated to the rest of the file is a worse sin in my opinion.
It's a subjective thing and as far as I'm concerned SHION crossed the "this isn't fun anymore" line, then ran a few miles past it yelling "LOLOL MINIJACK SECTION" just for good measure. Thankfully I don't ever have to play it again, not my division's file \o/ Although I will agree it makes for a good tournament file- after all, *something* has to be difficult because AAAs are kind of hard to compare lol. So I see its value as a tournament file, but that doesn't mean I have to find it fun. EDIT- contrast this with the difficulty spike in Love is a Danger Zone, which I really enjoyed- a medium size 24th burst is a reasonable thing to throw in a file that already has sections with similar NPS and pattern difficulty.

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #6
Listen, people can hate a file for whatever reason they want. That's their right. But I'm tired of people claiming something is a bad file mainly just because they're ticked off that something in it is messing them up. Unless a file is like horrid, no one here should be claiming a file is "bad" You guys want to see a bad file? I can easily get one up there for ya to play.

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #6
Just not for D3, because you're in D3, and you don't want to play a crap file right?!?!?!? D:
Btw, totally worth pushing the spoiler button an extra 9 times after the first <3 Cannon in WHEE - YES ****ING STREAM <3 <3 <3 <3 definitely cannot wait for this, and it's hi19 too :3 Aerospace - I'd have to see more of the file to know if I'm totally psyched for it, but so far so good. Btw, I only noticed one mess up in the video and that was the course title change from D3's first song to their second. Otherwise the video was still good :]

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #6
I like how Himiko is a dense one handed mess in the preview XD
Jam Session's gonna make me split pretty hard. Guitar solos like that are pretty awkward, both look great |
