I'm not really sure if you're trying to argue that songs are too hard these days
or you have some massive beef with the way files are assigned difficulties (or both) @Files being too hard: Yes, this is done mainly to cater to the people who are better at this game. But if a lot of people (who have active input through stuff like posting brag board scores) are getting a lot better, and they reach a point where they stop being able to AAA stuff, what then? I think that's more or less obvious that people who play this game in a 'competitive sense' will probably agree that while they do enjoy the music, getting the score is priority 1. If I had to guess, I would say a vast majority of the people who AAA songs at a higher level will tend not to go back to play those songs ever again, whether it's out of frustration or that they have achieved the maximum possible score and no longer have an incentive to play it. But if people force themselves to play the same song over and over again (stuff they cannot perfect/improve anymore), they will end up getting tired of it. Not everyone gains skill at a linear/exponential rate. Plenty of people at the top of the ladder AAA songs the second they come out, "next plz." This applies to very few people who play the game though, but it's a fairly large voice in the community because casuals almost never give feedback (correct me on this if I'm wrong). Why would they care right? They're there for the music (although limiting charts to one per song is pretty silly in the fact that casuals basically can not play along with songs that they might like but lack the skill to play, but that's another matter). These people are also the people who play the most, and have reasons for wanting more songs on that level. Stepartists also like to step more difficult songs. It is more interesting on the stepartist's point of view (imo), and I think the satisfaction of completing a chart on a difficult song far exceeds the satisfaction of finishing an easy chart. Layering is an essential part of what constitutes a good stepfile these days, regardless of difficulty. Imagine trying to play or listen to an instrument with no dynamic contrast, or try to follow/define a drum and bass song by only it's snare drums. If you want to play a game with no layering, go play osu!. Some songs might be a tad overlayered or underlayered, but in general the judges are fine at accepting files within reasonable ranges of layering. This is a section where I can just say, deal w/ it :shades: @the difficulty system: I am not entirely sure on this, but most of the difficulty adjustments that FFR has implemented has affected the more difficult songs. The fact that there is a 13-tier difficulty system is bad enough for describing a wide gamut of difficulties, but trying to fine tune the songs from 9-12 doesn't really help it's cause either. Having a 1-number difficulty system always brings problems, but it's unavoidable for a simple and convenient way to get things done (that not a lot of people care about tbh). Personally I think an entirely difficulty overhaul should be made that overlooks every song in the game and to readjust, but it's no easy task. And honestly, songs that you feel are given incorrect difficulty assignments will no way ever be +/- 1 of it's assigned difficulty unless it's like really old.

You're comparing low 11's to high 11's and etc. Especially in the case of FMO's, it doesn't seem that you are considering the removal of avmisses. Consider the average difficulty, and I think you'll find different results.

This is why I have hardly ever posted here. My opinion is apparently non - existent to the vast majority of you. You do know what an opinion is, yes? You do know the developers of this site should consider my opinion just as valid as yours right? Are all but the 4 of you ( the 2 with me and the 2 against me with intelligible arguments ) daft? Do you have no understanding of anything past your own ego?!
Oh, and Seraphim had no homework today, I forgot it was Friday, that is why I had the time to make this last post ( in case you had some other smart remark to make based on your " wit " ). I said what i had to say, I know WHAT I said, and WHY I said it. Someone in this thread even posted a quote from someone saying exactly what I was trying to say ( sorry if I don't take the time to look up who it was and what was said, but it is what I was trying to say ). It seems the opinion has been voiced before, unbeknownst to me. I will just leave my post for what it is, what I think, and to heck with the rest of your smart remarks. Peace, Shay

I still don't get why you made this thread bitching about how all the 9-13 songs are garbage/spam/trash/shitty because you're not great at the game

Starts a thread passive aggressively- "I respect FFR simfile artists so much, BUT their recent files are so bad that I can't even enjoy the song"
Criticizes difficulty placements, doesn't give any examples. Makes a post 3 pages in criticizing the community for making "smart remarks" Attempt to keep holding the moral high ground despite this- "Blah blah you don't even respect little old me, I have opinions too blah blah" This my friends is a master example of trolling- whether or not the OP is serious lol

I made a chart
![]() Note: This doesn't have any factual statistics, but I just made it as a visual to try to help explain my point. What I think happening is that the difficulty of files is gradually increasing and pushing the upper limit of a difficulty up. Then the players gradually accept that the new heightened boundary is the new norm for that difficulty allowing the boundaries to be pushed more. Then we get to the end of the chart and the gap between players expectations and the actual difficulties of the files is noticeable to the point where people are making threads like these saying wtf is happening here? NinjaKiwi, answer me this: If Mute City Remix were JUST accepted as a file today, what difficulty would it be?

I'm missing something here...
p.s. Rushy captured in a picture what it took the OP over 9000 words to somewhat coherently get across. Despite all my sarcasm I have to agree the difficulties could use *another* overhaul someday.
