On topic, how about in turn making something like what someone said in the past' post. Lock VC and up songs or something for new members until a certain play count.

Well from the previous posts, it looks like you guys are entirely missing the point and are instead trying to troll back.

Just looking at the responses to qqwref's sarcastic comment instead of looking at his actual points makes me understand why it's so hard to get crap done around here. This alt issue wouldn't be a problem if it was simply just handled better.

I approve of what they did for the second Gamewhore Competition after the rousing success of the first one. All participants made a new account consisting of their name prefaced by GWC, and at the end of a 24-hour period, lowest avrank won, after which all of those accounts were blacklisted.

(As I recall, Flaming Dingleberry took that contest.)

We need a similar kind of aggressive approach to the problem. Smogon handles it in a rather simple fashion: If you make an alt, it is banned.

I think a solution is somewhere along this path - rather than using play count though, why not use actual play -time-? That way, it slows the alternate account creation even more since people can't simply whore up a game count in an effort to unlock the higher songs for their account.

For the record, I totally agree with everything qqwref and Dossar have been saying.

Alts clogging up the levelranks is extremely unfair to other players that are trying to cut their ranks down on certain songs, and when the alt's created specifically for trolling the scoreboards, that's kinda lol.

However, I'm sure several players, myself being one of them, like to make a new account to start the entire game over completely fresh (like using another save file in a video game). You gotta figure that once you've AAA'd the majority of the songs in-game, it gets extremely tiresome playing the same 20/50/100/whatever# of songs over and over again in an effort to improve those ranks.

...that's still unfair as fuck to the other players

I think some sort of 'ghosting' system should be created, where only one score per IP address is recorded on the high score list. However, scores on other accounts from the same IP address record ranks on the same song properly as well...they just don't bump everyone else down. For example, assume Zierg AAA's Integraation and a BF at this point in time is Rank 10...if he also AAA's Integraation on Yuyuko, both accounts are given Rank 1 for the AAA, but a BF is still Rank 10. Hence some kind of 'ghosting' effect is produced. No idea how difficult something like that would be to implement but that would solve soooooooooooooooooo many problems.

That's the best solution I can come up with
