My new keyboard rocks!
Hi all,
I've only recently returned to FFR. I bought a new keyboard and wanted to see how well its buttons would mash. Wow, what an amazing difference! I bought the Filco Majestouch-2 Tenkeyless with Cherry MX Brown mechanical keyswitches. Compared to my old non-mechanical keyboard, my PA is so much better now it's unbelievable! No more helpless feeling of 'random' goods. I can actually AAA songs now without having to play them 100 times hoping to get lucky. The new feature on the Velocity engine called Song Offset also helps immensely on some songs. I put it on -1, 0, or 1 depending on the song. I guess all I wanted to say was: FFR is once more enjoyable thanks to my new keyboard! |

Re: My new keyboard rocks!
Mechanical keyboards are garbage for FFR and SM in the sense that they can't jack very well. They might be absolutely perfect for everything else, but since they register the keypress half way through the press, jacking doesn't go very well.
Looks like someone either didn't read the post, or has no idea what mechanical switches are. |

Oo, N-key rollover. Now I'm jealous. How does it sound? I like loud keyboards.

I use nothing but Logitechs personally it looks like one bout of rage from me and I'd leave a hole the size of my fist in it.

Re: My new keyboard rocks!
They look plain but are very well built. Mechanical keyboards feel so much different than standard keyboards in typing and such. However for SM its questionable; I personally have no problem jacking on a Filco (same above) with cherry blues but I personally prefer using flat membrane kbs for general playing

Looks more functional that what I've got.
Note : Razor Lycosa is not a good keyboard for FFR. Reason being, rubber topped keys practically triple the effort needed and keep fingers from easily sliding from key to key. Pretty nice board you got there though, may have to get one myself. |

The Blue switches also make a highpitched click sound when the key actuates (halfway on the way down). If you like noise, get that one. It's a bit harder to press though. I can't say if it's better than a flat membrane keyboard. All I can say: I had a regular membrane keyboard and this one is a million times better. |

Re: My new keyboard rocks!
Looks like a decent keyboard, personally I dont like mechanical keyboards for SM/FFR. I gave one a shot for awhile and turned out the only thing it ended up being good for was MA, it sucked for harder songs. So I'll just stick with my laptop keys/slim keyboards, they play a lot better for me.

Oh really? Oh, I got that wrong. I'd still say they're better for SM/FFR because they have the balance between force needed to push and clickiness, the orgasmic click when using Cherry MX Blue switches helps me get better MA for some reason. The reason why I don't like the Cherry MX Brown or Red switches is that they're not clicky, it makes it uncomfortable for me for some odd reason. Last edited by Secks69; 06-26-2011 at 12:15 PM.. |

Re: My new keyboard rocks!
I really am looking for mechanical keyboards, but I can't decide between Cherry MX Blue, Black and Brown. Yes, I know all the little differences but I don't know what I want. =( Figure I'll end up settling with Blue since it's a good standard.

I guess the clicky sound helps with FFR though, but I didn't take that into consideration as I bought it for StarCraft II rather than for FFR. |
