I stopped playing for a while because I got bored and then yesterday I decided randomly to get back into FFR. It's been about three months, maybe. At my best point back then, I could FC a VC song, now I can barely FC a standard/tricky. What I noticed is that it's very hard to read the arrows like I used to be able to, so what can I do to get myself back up to speed? I'm thinking about reinstalling stepmania because I know that always helps people, but is there anything else I can do?
Thanks! edit: Another funny thing I noticed is that for almost all the songs, I've retained the muscle memory(for example {blaze}), but then I can barely read the arrows anymore so I'm frantically trying to keep up with a blur of arrows as my brain presses everything perfectly on time, leaving my fingers in a jumbled heap on the keyboard. XD

Do you have standalone? The standalone engine is like xinfinity better than the ffr game link here. A good speed to start at is 1.75x, but I think 2.0x is the best speed (that's what I play with anyways). Yes, you can always install Stepmania and practice on it. Good luck!

I would play lots of the highest level you're most comfortable at. Re-reading that that sounds obvious, but it's still my suggestion! :P

Just drop your speedmod for now and slowly increase it. Whore some songs that are just a little too hard for you and you'll get your stamina up again in about a week.

It's been so long for you, that you're brain has not yet readjusted to playing this madness.

Cool, thanks for the advice everyone. I'll see if I can find the standalone cause I've just been using the velocity engine version that is here on the site.

You can just google up a standalone player and download it from there.
By the way, these are the links to both engines: Original: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/ffrndanotherway.swf Velocity: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...y/ffr_Wide.swf Hope that helps.

I always say start at 1.5x or 1.75x (the best speed) when trying to get back into it, 2.0x is way too fast especially if your issue is reading.

For you maybe. I play 2.25x normally and when I'm having a hard time reading I go to 2.5 or even 2.75x. Everyone is different. |

or u can put ur speed at 2.3x and then play 3-5 songs or more. get comfortable and then go down to your set speed. to your usually settings. the notes should seem so easy to hit
