Re: Nintendo 3DS launches today!
From the few who have already played it, I've heard that it really wows everyone. Haven't checked game line-up though. I think there's a vid for all the games that will be released soon after the launch date, in the link I've provided.
The only downside I've heard is the short battery life, but with the mechanisms required to function, can you really blame it for expending so much energy? |

Re: Nintendo 3DS launches today!
Game Line-Up is pretty meh for the beginning. The good games (aka Zelda, Mario Kart, etc.) will be released weeks later |:
Battery Life is <4 hours |

Re: Nintendo 3DS launches today!
Ah, I remember the Gameboy Color being groundbreaking. 8-bit graphics in the palm of your hand! If I remember correctly, it was 30+ hours on a set of AA's. Today's batteries have lagged behind in demand for power and life a shietload.
Soon enough, Nintendo is going to **** everyone up the arse again and release a Nintendo 4DS (4THz of processing POWAH!)- and anyone unfortunate enough to have bought a 3DS will have to go up their own arse. It's a lot like Nintendo releasing the DSi shortly after the DS Lite. Anyone who bought the Lite raged it while the DSi owners remained smug for waiting. |

I think is the 3DS is the worst thing in the world. I'm so not envious of not having one, I could care less about 3D images that don't even appear on camera psh. Edit: After watching their little introductory video, I think this could be great competition in terms of home made apps for things like the iPhone. It won't be long until people learn to make homebrew games, and use the internet+motion sensor+3D photography+Mic to make some crazy stuff. Edit 2: If anyone has it, how good is the camera? The camera for the DSi I had sucked really bad. Last edited by ddrxero64; 03-27-2011 at 07:30 AM.. |

Re: Nintendo 3DS launches today!
its supposed to get around 3 hours of battery life with like all the settings on (3d, volume, playing a game, etc)
5 hours with like the minimal (2d, brightness down I think, etc)

Re: Nintendo 3DS launches today!
I got mine Friday (Europe FTW), 3D works well and actually enhances the games no problems with headaches, surround sound is beautiful, got 2 streetpass hits on saturday walking round Preston town centre for 2 hours (2,500 steps according to the pedometer), AR games are really good and starts up instantly without a health and safety warning.

Re: Nintendo 3DS launches today!
I'm actually rather content with my Lite, it's got the best battery life of any DS or it's cousins. 15-17 hours.

Re: Nintendo 3DS launches today!
I would agree with this, but remember, it's not just the 3D part. It's a whole new console with a whole new line of games. The quality of the games have improved substantially, so don't expect many games to be out for 3DS and DS Lite. Especially since the analog was added,

Re: Nintendo 3DS launches today!
Bought mine today without preorder. This is really an awesome machine.
3D effect is subtle yet amazing, and I've just been surprised how good this is. Only thing lacking is line-up titles... that's why I purchased Pokemon Black. Gonna be an amazing Spring Break. |

Ha, Ill wait till a lighter more advanced version comes out. I bought the first gen psp, ds, ps2, and ps3. I have learned waiting is better.

Re: Nintendo 3DS launches today!
I'm in the UK, and I think it's to be released soon (if it hasn't already). I just hope shops will put up a 3DS for a demonstation or something as I'm curious to see if it actually works, even if I have no real intention in buying a 3DS.

Re: Nintendo 3DS launches today!
Third-party solution to longer battery life: http://www.gamesradar.com/3ds/ninten...16102754448006 (looks sloppy though)
And so far, I haven't heard any personal experiences from anyone who's played a full battery life's worth of games on the 3DS. Here's a site that did some battery life comparisons, and claims that 3-5 hours of battery life may be a conservative estimate: http://www.tested.com/news/nintendo-...consoles/1622/ |

Re: Nintendo 3DS launches today!

although i'm also aware there will be 3ds exclusive games, which i want... |

Re: Nintendo 3DS launches today!
Been waiting for this, my Lite was stolen a while back and I've been so lonely T_T
The battery life is hilarious though, Ars Technica was bewildered when they wrote their review. also going to have to agree with everyone bitching about the extremely short lifespan of recent Nintendo handhelds. Especially in the case of the DSi and 3DS games, which are unplayable on previous iterations of the DS. Kind of a scummy move there, Nintendo. Gr8 4 bizness tho
