There might be people on this forum with a higher IQ.

But IQ isn't everything, obviously. Einstein's IQ was probably quite high (Over 140), but the reason he achieved what he did was because of his absolute and extraordinary dedication to his field, not his absolute intellect. The same goes with this kid. Obviously his aptitude is astronomical, but what kind of life he chooses to live is up to him.

Michael Kearney's IQ was measured at somewhere around 300 when he was 6. He got a Masters Degree at 14, and is obviously super smart, but is no Einstein; he has chosen to do other things with his life.
I read this post in Sheldon's voice, and it actually worked out pretty well.
Damn your avatar.

Why do people with high IQ's always resort to math to prove their intelligence ._.

I don't really get that joke. Anyway, I really don't think autism has anything to do (directly) with how smart he is. I think maybe it just caused him to have less and friends and spend more time reading calculus books (wow). But yea, he does have a knack for this kind of stuff.
The autism probably has a lot to do with it actually. Spergs often have very restrictive and narrow interests. This dude likes math and probably doesn't give a shit about anything else.

Just like Dr. Eggman, with an IQ of 300 hehe.

Except superevil geniuses are often the epitome of differentiating pure IQ with common sense.

No, that's Algebra II material.

Anyways, being intelligent is one thing. Doing something with that intelligence is another. I know too many people with < 3.0 GPA's that are super-smart, they are just too lazy to do anything with their intelligence.

There are plenty of geniuses out there - not to harp on anything, of course... I have ALWAYS found prodigies and people with gifts to be fascinating.

But honestly, I much rather hear about an emotional genius, or a *true* creative genius. You don't often hear about children who can tell you the intricacies of psychology, empathy, philosophy and things over in that realm. The most common geniuses and prodigies seem to be in math and music.

If and when one of these geniuses comes up with a creative, new and significant solution to one of the world's problems or questions, I will be more excited.

Well, IQ tests do fail to test creativity. Creativity is hard to measure quantitatively without being subjective. My favorite creativity test: name all the uses of a brick.

Depends how good you are with it. If you're no good, then you're just an addict.

Good point. His autism probably narrowed his interest in it, only making his ability to learn it so much more easier. Now I can see what you're saying.

LOL I think I did this subconsciously! Now that you point it out, I realized I did. I kinda doubt Reach has Sheldon's voice hahaha. As for this thread, I think Reach made the most sense. I agree with his post 100%.

"This integral becomes one-half E to the U plus C. Very obviously."

Granted what he's doing is way over my head in terms of what I've learned in math classes, it's still funny to me how he's just like 'This is easy.' Seems like a pretty good kid, should do some great things if he keeps himself focused.
