I'm curious as to if they have captions, voice-overs, or are bilingual.

I just finished watching yesterday's episode (S4 E18) and noticed there were more sex jokes than there used to be, but they added in Howard's card trick, causing Sheldon frustration. I was very pleased.

I hope they don't venture too far into the sex jokes. The nerdiness is what drew me to the show in the first place.

Sex jokes are funny, but combined with the super nerds that the characters are supposed to be, it could be a bad idea. Hopefully they don't pursue too much into the sex jokes and they start to go back to the fully nerdy jokes.

I noticed the trend towards less intellectual jokes starting in the third season after re-watching all three of them on DVD. The 4th has continued the trend.
As much as I liked last nights episode, I do worry a bit for the future of the show. Hopefully they have some witty stuff planned for season 5. Though I suppose the last two seasons have had the highest ratings yet, probably in part because of the greater accessibility. Also, as much as it's cool to humanize Sheldon, I'm quite sure Sheldon is capable of googling magic tricks >_>

I find it enjoyable as, although it plays on the idea of the stereotypical nerd - and also the typical structure of many sitcoms (boy falls for girl; a lot of people sleep around; etc etc) - it manages to destroy other cliched ideas with the humour behind it. I wouldn't consider it as one of my favourite shows, but maybe one of my favourite sitcoms as I always find it enjoyable to watch with every new series.

watched the first three seasons, and a few episodes from four. though just like shows like two and a half men and how I met your mother, this show wouldn't be nearly as funny without a laugh track.

Don't like the newer seasons. I liked it when they were just 4 geeky bachelors. lol these new characters are just annoying. |

Agreed. Priya is the randomest character ever made. She's not 'quirky' enough- whereas the other characters have unique idiosyncrasies that define each other.

Haha when we have a free day in my LAN or programming classes we end up watching an episode of the BBT and we all just love it! My teacher has every season.

I've never watched this before, but I have heard about it vaguely. I kind of want to see what it's like, but before I watch any of it, what kind of knowledge would you say I would need to have to understand the references and jokes they make? I would like to not be lost, because I would definitely not want to overshoot my own knowledge and assume I already know enough when obviously I'm really just a lazy person and lack a lot in some areas of knowledge (and excel in others).

There are also jokes about computing, and well-known experiments and theories such as Schrodinger's cat, which is sort of a recurring thing. |
