Im a junior, which means I get to partake in the splendor (or fail) that is high school prom.
My prom is in about 3 weeks and Ive already got a date, and am trying to think of how I should thoroughly prepare to make it a perfect time :3 Anyone else going? Got any special plans for that special one? Any tips to pass on to make it a memorable night? Raging because youre a sophomore and CANT go?

-Save up money; a lot of money. Prices often run into the hundreds of dollars just for admission, and when you factor in dinner, transportation, buying a suit for yourself (your dad's old tuxedos aren't going to cut it here), and possibly a gift or two, you're easily looking at shelling out at least 250 bucks.
-No matter what she tells you, a "happy ending" will always create more problems than the two of you need right now. Refrain from any sort of sexual contact--this includes "dirty dancing." -If you don't like the music, are getting tired from dancing, are burning up in your suit, etc., don't be afraid to take your leave from the dance floor. I admit I'm a bit out of touch with what you young people do out there (even when I was at that age, I had no idea). You're there to have fun, and don't let anyone, even your date, talk you into doing something that will mar your enjoyment of the event. Get out there, you lady-killer, you. ;3 |

At my high school, juniors had their own prom and seniors had their own on separate nights. Juniors in early April and seniors in late May. The junior prom wasn't as elaborate as senior prom though. Junior prom was in the cafeteria and senior prom was at a banquet hall with complimentary dinner and unlimited drink and dessert bars.
Boys, remember to ask what color your date is wearing so you guys can match ;] also buy her a corsage that matches too because they're pretty :3

Ah, I miss prom...hell, I miss high school.
Anyway, I don't know you or your date at all, so I can't really give any before/after date advice, but I can give a few pointers. 1. Make sure you wear a nice, CLEAN looking suit/tux. Low on money? Borrow a family member's.(If it looks nice, who cares, no one has to know.) 2. Prom=Dance. So, wear a good amount of deoderant. Also, I would suggest wearing cologne. 3. Make sure your hair is nice, but don't overdo it to the point to where you look like a retard. Brushed/gelled(only gel if you know what youre doing), but not to the point to where its ridiculous. 4. Clean your face up. You don't have to completely shave off your facial hair if you're proud of it(which is fine), but make sure it doesn't look trashy. 5. This is the biggest one. BE SOCIAL. Be active with people! Don't be afraid to dance! Not only will your date like this, but it will make the overall experience much more enjoyable.

My prom was last year..
I had a date but not that "special someone" (pretty lame) so I don't have much to say on that. Someone mentioned cologne.. don't do cologne, deodorant works just fine. How to make it enjoyable/memorable? Dancing is cool and stuff but the whole idea of prom is to gather everyone for last time so talk to people, you will most likely never see most of them again once school is over, trust me. There's really nothing to it though, just give 'er.. prom is a fun time and I hope you enjoy it! |

My senior prom was the only dance I went to. They played really shitty rap and hip hop all night, but my date and I danced to it anyway. I put my hair up in foot-long liberty spikes and wore a black corset style trenchcoat haha. Overall I think prom totally sucked, and getting laid afterwards was one of the only highlights of the night.
That being said. Go get laid after the dance. Wear good deodorant. Wear 2 undershirts, you'll likely sweat a lot because there's 400 people in one room dancing, it gets hot, and you'll likely not have your coat on, don't want sweat seeping through or anything. Pick up your date early, her parents are going to want to take pictures of you two, which can sometimes take a while. Don't drink the punch. Bring about $120 cash with you, sometimes dances charge for pictures and stuff on the spot, and that covers food and parking and stuff afterward. |

Thank God I can't go to any more proms. I went to one last year at her school's (not mine) and my shyness level went up so high that I didn't even want to dance. I regret ever saying yes to being her prom date. Now every single one of her lady friends hate me with a passion and I don't hang out with her anymore.
Yes. I'm an idiot, and I only said yes because she would have been very disappointed if I didn't. If anything, I wanted to see what prom was like, and now I regret ever going to it. |

Ah, prom night. A magnificent splendour of hormonal anxiety, of zest and jest. When all the world shines like coruscating mist in the eyes of your queen or king - your one and only.
Yes, I recall those days fondly. For though I am an elder soul, and they have long since passed, their seamless magic remain fast in my heart's memory... the breathless, excited gasps of a young boy in heat. |
